Iraq - 2011 - NYOI Documentary
Project Description
The National Youth Orchestra of Iraq was founded by 17 year old young musician Zuhal Sultan from Baghdad in 2009 and has met - every year since - for workshops, rehearsals and concerts. NYOI is made up of musicians from diverse ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds and provides a unique opportunity for young musicians of these diverse backgrounds to work together intensively to produce performances of world-class quality.
Cam Matheson (Camera) and Mark Edwards (Sound) intend to travel to Erbil in Iraq this September to produce a recording of the orchestra and also a documentary which cover the orchestra and the stories of the players involved.
Mark and Cam am looking for assistance to cover travel to and from Erbil in Northern Iraq this September - along with sound and camera gear to subsequently produce a high-quality sound recording of the orchestra and a documentary. Copies of the recording can be made available to sponsors, orchestra members and other interested parties through the Pozible platform.
This is a unique opportunity for us to cover the NYOI rehearsals and concert and to investigate the stories that bring this diverse group of musicians together and produce a world-class documentary
