Project Description

WHAT SONG IS THAT? is a stimulating, colourful and quirky hard-covered title that contains 100 unique pictograms which prompt the viewer to recall the name of universally recognised songs - everything from Tiny Dancer to Careless Whisper to Ice Ice Baby to Sex On Fire to Empire State Of Mind!

The viewer’s goal is to piece together the song titles through visual recognition and word play. Some of the pictograms are literal, others will be oblique. Participants will receive a point for correctly naming the song title, and a point for correctly naming the original artist. The list of answers at the back of the book will reveal how well you know your way around a pop pictogram.

WHAT SONG IS THAT? is an ideal gift book for lovers of music, pop culture, and graphic art – which is just about everyone!

The book's illustrator Little Gonzales is one of Australia’s most exciting artists. He's designed album covers, t-shirts – and everything in between! .

We'd love to print an initial run of 500 copies, and our goal is to market and distribute this book in Australia (and possible internationally). We'd love to share our project with you, and we'd love your help to make our labour of love possible. Thanks a bunch!

MICHAEL WILTON is a pop culture fanatic. He has an unhealthy obsession with music, and has over a decade’s experience as a writer and television producer in the UK and Australia. Michael is soon entering rehab for his addiction to music.

LITTLE GONZALES is an illustrator who only draws because the voices in his head tell him to. He would argue that his obsession with music is much healthier than one for fried chicken. His perfect day involves music, drawing and drinking tea.
