Voltaire Twins SXSW/CMW American tour
Project Description
Hi, we're the Voltaire Twins - Tegan, Jaymes, Jack and Matt. We're a four-piece band from Perth, Australia.
We've released two EPs, a couple of singles and done a bunch of remixes for other bands. We've toured around Australia a bunch of times, played some fun festivals and supported some of our favourite bands, including Ladytron, Maximo Park, Midnight Juggernauts, The Jezabels and Art vs Science.
Now we've been offered the biggest opportunity of our lives.
We've been invited to the USA and Canada in March 2012 to play at South By South West (SXSW) in Austin, Texas, and Canadian Music Week (CMW) in Toronto, Canada. SXSW and CMW are two of the most influential tastemaker festivals in the world, where countless huge bands have been unearthed. Every label, radio station, publishing company, synchronisation/licensing company, booking agency, touring company and significant music blog will be there, and so will we!
As if this wasn't exciting enough, we've also been offered the chance to play a set of special Australian showcases in LA, Chicago and NYC either side of and between the two festivals.
This is by far the biggest and most exciting opportunity we've ever been offered. It is our dream come true, and we need help pulling it off. We're an independent band and everything we do is financed out of our own pockets.
All money raised will help with the trip's many expenses - airfares (both international and domestic), visas, ground travel, accommodation, backline hire... it's a huge operation!
In return, we've put our heads together to come up with some pretty great things in return. Some prizes are very limited edition objects, some are just cool things, some are actually just us giving you our time to do cool things. So if you're thinking of donating, we're gonna make it worth your while!

Our single Animalia was released in late 2011, and was added to rotation on FBi radio and Triple J. It's just been released in the US, where it entered the indie charts at #36. That was pretty exciting, let me tell you.
The accompanying video was voted #7 in the top 50 videos of 2011 by the viewers of Rage.
