Viva Grit Media
Project Description
The last few days have been amazing - some big supporters who have really helped to get our goal in sight. Only 3 days left to get us over the line so please come on board and support us .... here's a bit of what we're about .....
‘Before I came to GRIT I would see the same old stuff around on tv about people facing disabilities: awkward, patronising and so serious. Grit helped me see that people with disabilities don’t need to be told what we are like, or wait around for someone to give us a go… we can represent ourselves,’ –Matt (Grit Volunteer)
Each year GRIT creates TV and radio, provides education courses for young people, creates employment in media and collaborates with people to ‘represent’ people with disabilities in positive and empowering ways. But we need you to make it happen
However you have come into contact with GRIT Media, you’re a member because you are passionate or know someone who is passionate about what GRIT does, if you believe that seeing positive representations of people with disabilities in the media is something worth fighting for, please consider donating to us.
Your contribution will mean we can keep training young people with disabilities in media skills, ensure programs like Channel 31’s ‘No Limits’ and 3CR’s ‘The Boldness’ keep going to air and will help us to keep creating new ways to showcase people with disabilities as strong capable individuals.

Grit Media was established in 2005. We make the award winning community television series No Limits which screens on community television across Australia and now in New Zealand and Canada. No Limits is everything about disability but we also create other media that smashes preconceptions about disability. We've just launched our new accessibility website: www.travelling chair.net
We are also developing a comedy series with wise comedy man Jeff Browett mentoring a group of enthusiastic writers and storytellers. We make The Boldness radio show, produce short films and this year our other new project is Wonky Life - a series of audio stories for pod cast.
We are a lean little organisation with only 2 part time staff. CEO Sarah Barton returned to Grit Media in November 2011. She was part of the original team who set up Grit Media and has a strong and long standing track record producing media that advances the rights of people with disabilities and also heads her own production company fertile films (www.fertilefilms.com.au).
Sarah is ably assisted by the multi-talented Beau Kondos and a committed group of volunteers who keep the good ship Grit Media afloat.
Right now we really need a quick, sharp injection of funds to help get No Limits back on air this year and also to kick start our new comedy project.
