The point of this project is to create a platform that allows people to write a short story and attach it to a location on a map.

The idea is that writers are inspired by their surroundings. This gives the writer a chance to invite the reader to the place they thought of the idea so they can see it for themselves.

My name is Marty and I am a founder of another start-up called WeTeachMe and I also have my head in the clouds. I want to make things that let me make new things.

I don't think people really use their imaginations that much and this would make it fun to quite literally see the world in a different way. There's no super layered technology needed although that would be great. In fact, I believe that the platform can be developed from existing infrastructure.

An example of this can be seen as follows:

I walked right into their trap. I can't even think how I got here. The memories of the tattooed halls were nothing but an blur and the hollow promises of endless feasts just made me ache. I could feel them staring right down at me from their perch. Just waiting.

The writing can be heavily dosed in metaphor or just whatever you feel in a place or it can be whatever you want to create.

In addition to the ability to write stories around locations I am hoping to crowd source and reconstruct a complete story inspired by the NES version of Legend of Zelda (Which was my childhood) using Melbourne as the map. I know there are some people that are very passionate about the game and believe that the story is very archetypal. SO much in fact that many of the games basically have the same story (Don't send me hate mail for this. I haven't really played any of the new ones). But its all about exploration and I thought it would be cool to have a hero fantasy story across multiple locations that some people could visit.

So, what I want to see as an outcome is a platform that can host these stories with minimal operational complexity and the ability for anyone to have their own space to create stories. In addition to that, I would like to see the Zelda inspired story continue (if people think it is an idea) as a crowd sourced story which may have multiple versions and alterations but in the end give people the chance the explore this lovely city and for god sake look up at some of the extraordinary buildings.

The funds will be primarily used for hosting to put an ad on freelancer and 99designs. If you can do it for free in return for creative control and to put your real mark on it email me otherwise please sign up for the bidding. I believe the site can be developed using wordpress and geolocational mashup plugins I have experimented with. It could also be used as a simple add-on to foursquare in terms of functions and I am looking at what they provide the developers. I'm not trying to recreate the wheel here.I will also use some of the funds for props for the zeldaish story but I am not completely sure about that. Another thought is to print various media to keep at some locations as a kind of geocache easter egg hunt.
