Dearest friends, family, and possible random locals of Cairns & Townsville . . .
We are gathered here today to farewell what once was the beloved, over-used camera of Simone S. Vinton. Death has come to it, as it does to all cameras eventually. At four years of age, it had good use made of it, it survived the hands of toddlers, drops of rain, grains of beach sand, and much more.
It is the death of Simone's dearly beloved camera that has brought you here, to this very page, to be presented with the request of some minor funding, in exchange for the use of her photographic ability to suit your needs (to an extent . . .. )
For the first time in my life I have no money in my savings. I can afford food, fuel and my electricity bill, but I don't actually know how I'm going to feed myself when I go to my pre-booked Brissy holiday in a few weeks.but I'll be seeing Dave Grohl live so that should make up for my hunger.
But now my favourite hobby of all time is dead - camera.
So I've decided to try my luck at one of these crowdfunding . . ..things.
I ask my fellow friends, family and if it be the case - generous randoms whom I thank very kindly - if you have the spare cash, to donate towards my creative hobby, and help me puchase a new camera - with the opportunity to get AN EVEN BIGGER (well, they're all about the same size really) AND BETTER CAMERA THAN BEFORE. I COULD EVEN BECOME INVINCIBLE.
Actually, that's a lie, I will never become invincible.
My original camera, at 4 years of age, was only a Canon 1000D - actually one of the lower range of cameras available out there. So it's not hard to get something better. I have two lens already which are good enough, thus I am aiming for a body ONLY and looking at either the 60D or 70D, as there isn't much between them and the 1000D or 1200D. These guys are around the $1200 mark, body only, thus the reason for my price aim. I could go one better and ask for like $3000 minimum? No. Then I'd just be ripping you people off asking for too much. That's rude.
Now I've got a nice guilty conscience and am not a big fan of scabbing other people's money, no matter how small a donation, and not giving anything in return. Especially with the current economic climate, I know not many people exactly have the spare cash to give, and that I completley understand.
I would like to offer cool little gifts like calendars, magnets and stuff made from my photos, as that is relative, but these cost from $5-$20 to get made up, and that's a rip off, I would have to include the price of the rewards in the price of my goal, too much effort to figure out.
So I give you my offering of one free photo, of whatever you want, taken by myself, with my new camera, for every dollar you donate. You point, I'll shoot (with my camera, not a gun. Unless it's a politican, then the latter could be used).
If you don't want photos, I can reward you with an artwork of some kind, or a bookmark, baked cookies, my presence WHATEVER
Anything but sex. Unless you're a single, attractive young man with the same interests as myself. Maybe.
If anyone donates more than $50, you're either extremely rich and have too much spare money on your hands, or just absolutely nuts. I'll try and take some really creative interesting photos for you.
I live in Cairns, but travel to Townsville on the regular occasion throughout the year, so am happy to spread the photographic opportunity between and within these towns.
This is a hobby of mine, and I know many people out there like what they see sometimes so I'm offering this cheap opportunity for anyone who wants it - I DO NOT want to open a photography business of any kind! There are already 468457906845078 photographers out there with a simple Facebook page and Vistaprint business cards and whalla, they're already pro photographers (gotta love an ego). I will NOT have a Facebook page or website or any crap like that that will be featuring your photos. They will not even be shared on my own personal Facebook - they will be YOUR photos and YOURS ONLY.
I excel in portraits within nature, and have also taken a surprisingly easy liking to kidlets (no newborns - they never stop crying, they are hard to keep in certain positions, they are fragile - only talented people can do that stuff THATS NOT ME). However, I am open to challenges in the photographic world, and if you donate and want to through a concept at me - come at me bro. This is an opportunity for me to expand my creativity skills and start photographing some interesting shit. Maybe.
Please take a moment to check out my portfolio if you would like to get a better idea of things, be influenced, or challenge me. Just remember, I will (hopefully) have a new badass camera to do it with. Maybe I will become invincible for a moment . . .
I apologise in advance if you hate the photos I take for you and think they look like shit.

Funds will be used to purchase a new camera, mid-range SLR, either a 60D or 70D BODY ONLY.
Obstacles to this project obviously lie in the fact that I am not confident with the current economic climate and the fact that many others feel the same, and I understand that people will feel reluctant to donate to this campaign as it is a simple "want" not a "necessity" which is something people need to focus their money on more, seeing as there is less of it going around these days. I'm much the same, offering photographic services in exchange for donations, as I myself am only just able to afford my own neccessities at the moment and have a lot of saving to do for other bills in the coming future, will little room left to save for an "unneccessity" such as a new camera.
