Lost Paradise Bamboo Bush Temple

The Bush Temple will be a large and ambitious bamboo sculptural shade structure built to bring people together to herald in the dawn of the New Year. We hope to create a gathering space for midnight moon rituals, a cosmic canopy between the earth and the stars where strangers will fall in love swinging from hammocks, a meeting place that's far more than 'front left'.

The Bush Temple will be sited in the Glenworth Valley at the Lost Paradise Festival. We are creating this 'for' the people, and we want this to be 'by' the people. In donating your bit you will help bring this big bamboo pipe-dream into reality, and then you will hopefully get to hang out in it! In fact we will be carving the name of every donator into the vertical poles of the structure, as a homage to those who help make this project happen. This will be your cool and shadey place to chill in the heat of the midday sun. This will be your church in nature where you celebrate all things hedonistic. This will be YOUR Bush Temple.
The three of us - Jed, Zana and Alice - love working bamboo as it is a sustainable, natural, and extremely light material which can be crafted into colossal forms completely by hand through joint wo/man-power. As architects, we love getting out of computer-land and together physically creating something greater than that which we could ever build alone, for others to enjoy. We want to share this experience by working to build this structure with a group of unskilled volunteers.

In the past couple of months, we have hand-harvested many hundreds of bamboo poles from forests and clumps in Queensland, Byron Bay and Sydney. We have spent a week building the skeleton of the structure. With the festival just days off, and weather predicted to be hovering around 30 degrees, now we need your support to help us finish the structure and make some shade for the people!

How The Funds Will Be Used
All money raised will go towards covering the costs of construction, totalling $11,000. We are trying to raise half of this through crowdfunding. If you can help us reach our target on Pozible, Lost Paradise have offered to match it dollar for dollar to make up the difference.
