Hey! We're Junkadelic - also known as the Junkadelic Brass Band.

We're a 15-piece funk-on-junk band from Perth, Western Australia, and we play original big-band 'funk on junk' - good-time, booty-shaking tunes featuring recycled percussion and a smoking hot brass section. We've been taking our music all over Australia  for nearly ten years now, performing at street festivals, major venues and even in remote Indigenous communities.

A couple of months ago we performed for the first time at a festival called 'HONK OZ' in Wollongong, NSW, and it was awesome! The festival organisers liked us so much that they invited us to perform at the 'mothership' of HONK, Honk West - a three-day street music extravaganza in Seattle, Washington State, USA. The festival organisers also invited us to tour the West Coast of the US after the festival as the support act for the New Creations Brass Band, an authentic New Orleans street band - it's pretty much our dream come true! However, as you might have guessed, it's super expensive touring a band as big as ours overseas - and that's where you guys come in :)

We're aiming to crowdfund $10,000 towards the overall cost of our tour ($51,399 - see below for budget details). Now, the REALLY good news is that if we reach our crowdfunding target of $10,000, the fine folks over at Creative Partnerships Australia will match the amount that we crowdfund, DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR. Yes you heard us correctly....if you help us get to $10,000, they'll double it and we'll have $20,000! That's because our project is supported by Creative Partnerships Australia through the MATCH program. We're going to use the monies raised to help cover the cost of our flights to and from Seattle, as well as accommodation and food while we're over there. We also need a kickass tour chariot (read: minivan) to take us from Seattle, Washington down through Oregon and all the way to California, where we finish up in San Francisco.

Going on tour is no picnic - it's a good thing we all get along! There will be long days, long nights, travel fatigue, terrible roadhouse food, missing equipment, misplaced luggage, and maybe even band member illness or issues with our transport (flat tires, getting lost). We've toured together a lot before and we know how to look after each other. Junkadelic is a big family and on top of our musical skills, we have a great mix of leadership skills and the ability to make decisions as a group that we know will get us through.
