What the Fork?
Sometimes you can't just Google the answer. Some mysteries have to be solved first hand. Amy and Zoe are two housemates who, in many ways, are on opposite ends of the spectrum. Amy thinks that knowledge is power. Zoe, on the other hand is a more hands-on sort of chick. But when 35 foot high Fork appears in your back yard overnight, you tend to start questioning your view of the world. You might even question your own sanity!
To solve this metaphysical conundrum, Amy and Zoe are gonna have to put their heads together and their differences aside. If they can manage that, their encounter with the Fork might just change their lives forever. But will it it be a change for the better..?
Who the Fork?
Mark Battistella Films is an independent film company co-founded by Melbourne filmmakers Matt Sherwell and Mark Battistella. We are a small group of focussed and creative individuals with our eye on making feature films in the near future. We have just completed our first major short as a company (although individually we have all written and produced previous shorts and experimental films).
Thanks to the broad skill set within the company our films are written, directed, and edited in-house. We are also able to do our own music and VFX. This allows us to produce high quality shorts on a very low budget (we work for nothing - only the actors get paid).
As well as making films, we also write articles on all things related to film and filmmaking. We review old classics and new releases and provide a variety of useful and interesting tutorials on the technical aspects of film production. And the money?
We already have a great concept and a great story. We have the skills and the drive. Those things can't be bought. But we want to bring this tale to life in the most dazzling and memorable way. We need the right actors to give the best performances of their lives, and good actors need good pay-cheques.
We also need to hire some equipment for the shoot, so you have the best (short) cinematic experience OF YOUR LIFE! Also a couple of costumes for the girls to wear during the film, and catering to make sure their tummies don't grumble throughout the three day shoot!
The remainder of the funds would go into travel expenses, marketing and advertising of the film, as well as converting the final product into formats (Betacam SP, HDCam SR, etc.) ready for film festivals!
Additional funds will be used to film a special 'Director's Cut' alternative end sequence with visual effects like you've never seen in a short film before!
