There are plenty of Australian blogs and sites around for performers. But there is very limited technical information around for technicians and those that want to be technicians. I have been running a blog with a variety of articles. I now want to take it that next step , professionally host it and include audio and video content. I want to reach technicians, designers etc across Australia and the rest of the world. But this takes money, unfortunately nothing is every free. Up to this point I have been funding the site out of my pocket. Due to the interest shown in my blog by the readers it is time to take it the next step and give you better content and content that you want.
So the aim of the website is to provide information o lighting, audio, stage management and all other backstage discplines. Their will be reviews of equipment. Articles on current events with in the industry. It will not only cover theatre, but concerts, conferences - any avenue that requires technical skills. There will be information for Lighting Designers, audio designers, set designers etc.
The form the information will take is in any media that will get the information across. Whether it be writing, audio, video or pictures.
It will become the go to site for all things technical. It will have an Australian slant but will be relevant to the rest of the world.
The content will not only be made by me, I will be able to get others to contribute content.
Currently the site resides here
"Ramblings of a Techie"
So who am I?
Stephen has been active in theatre from a young
age and it won’t let him escape. Over the many years he has gained skill in all
of the backstage arts, but where he really excels is in lighting. Well really
anything that uses technology. Lighting still remains his major interest. He
has designed many show for companies in South Australia, in particularly
Unseen, Accidental Productions in recent times. He also works at a variety of
venues around town as a multi-skilled venue technician. This
year Stephen has designed many of the shows that appeared at the Bakehouse
Theatre for the Fringe 2012. Amongst his day to day lighting tasks he has also
found time to write a Technical Theatre Blog ”Ramblings of a Techie”, Encore
magazine and also for the trade magazine CX. He has also been asked to design
and operate the lighting for several shows at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe
Festival
