About Our Show

'On the Shoulders of Giants' is a captivating physical theatre show that explores the notion of belonging and its relationship to community, family and human connection.

The show was originally developed as part of a Masters of Arts project in the regional town of Bathurst NSW. An integral part of the development process were verbatim interviews and surveys conducted within the Bathurst community. Community members were asked to submit personal stories and memories that shaped or impacted upon the person that they have become. These stories then became the inspiration, and in some cases dialogue, for devising the show.

The show fuses verbatim stories with the elasticity of the human form and the charm of live music to reflect on the connections that we often take for granted.

After two work-in-progress shows in Bathurst, 'On the Shoulders of Giants' will be making its Australian Debut onstage as part of Adelaide Fringe Festival 2013 – bringing a taste of the talent of regional arts practitioners to the international festival.

But we need your help! We are a small, grassroots company with a big heart and a bigger voice - with your support we can cover the necessary bread and butter costs to get our humble show cross country. 

How will your funding help us?

We will be booking our company of five into one of Adelaide's "finest" backpackers hostels, and flying from Sydney on the cheapest flights available (red-eye here we come):

- 4 nights accommodation for the crew = $600

- Return flights from Sydney = $1000

Other essential costs include:

- Public Liability insurance = $150

- Poster/Flyer printing and distribution = $500

We are hoping to raise $1500, which will go a tremendous way towards covering our expenses. Any amount you can donate will be hugely appreciated. Donations can be as small as AU$1.00; and for those who can't donate, that's OK!
