What is the project?

SolacePOETRY. For those who love words & art as a poetic matrix, this truly beautiful book blends an experienced poet’s storytelling craft (Pip Sheehan Lowther) with a talented graphic designer’s styly framing (Lyndon Sheehan).

Among the handsome B&W pictures, there are some of weathered wooden seats which have been taken around the alpine lake where the poet lives.  Reading this book is to take a seat, take in the view, and breathe in the poetry.

As a signature collection spanning a life well-lived, the personal elements of these poems are utterly universal:  the people, places & events of the last three decades all caught in the storycatcher's net with a firm, kind hand. We recognize ourselves, each other, and our times in it.

About the poet

Over the past 30 years, as well as publishing & performing my own poetry, I’ve coordinated workshops and readings both in Aust and NZ, and worked as a school librarian.   I cut my poetry performing teeth in Byron Bay in the 80s & the early 90s.

Moving to NZ in the 90s and staying because my kids fell in love with snow, I continued my passion for the published & performed word.   After living in Cairns for several years, I'm now back in NZ enjoying the best alpine view in the world from our front deck!

About the graphic art for the book

To complement the poetry there's a contemporary black & white theme, giving an extra dimension to what the poems are saying.   Easy-on-the-eye typography alongside the organic images make reading the poetry even more enjoyable.
