Who, what, where, why, how?
On June 29th, two young Australians, myself (Tom Joyner) and my mate Leon Shore, will be flying to South Africa to begin a trip that will take us across the Serengeti, up Mt. Kilimanjaro and over the Victoria Falls. The product of this trip will be an clever and exciting travel documentary that hopefully will inspire others to travel and see the world, and also to hopefully dispel some stigma and rumours surrounding an unquestionably fascinating and beautiful continent.

We will be taking with us only one small backpack each plus two cameras to document the entire trip and plan to arrive with an open mind and take any opportunity that comes our way, no matter how bizarre or unfamiliar. Along the way, we'll be talking to locals, sampling the local cuisine, and winding up in some hairy situations. We really aim to stay well out of our comfort zone to make for some compelling viewing. The final edited documentary film we will then hope distribute on the Australian and international festival circuit.

We so far have only one destination: the summit of Kilimanjaro, but will be trekking and hitching through South Africa, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Kenya, Botswana and Zambia along the way. We expect the trip to be exciting, dangerous and wild, but beyond that we don't really know. At this point we've booked only the plane tickets, and need YOUR help to make the film happen.

That's why we're asking for $1500. This will allow us to make the film we envision making and seeing the project right through to completion. We've been planning this project for months, and its certainly become one dear to our hearts.

How is the final documentary going to stand out?
To keep things interesting, and not just a boring video of the trip, we've set down some ground rules for ourselves:

1. Except for getting to and from Africa, we will only be taking overland transport, ie. trains, buses, cars, bikes, and horses (?) - NO FLYING (CHEATING). Hitchhiking is definitely on the cards.
2. We will only be taking with us ONE CHANGE OF CLOTHES. That means only one spare pair of undies, socks and one spare shirt. We don't expect anyone to stand too close to us. 
3. Last of all, there will be NO HALF-ASSING IT. We are committing to a lot with this trip, both personally and to you guys, and so we want it to count. There'll be no giving up or quitting early. 

Where will the money go?
1. 2 x GOPRO CAMERAS. GoPros are the best 'no hands' sport cameras on the market and can capture incredibly beautiful footage in full 1080p and attach themselves to almost any surface. We plan on wearing one of these bad boys on our person during the trip to capture every minute of the adventure. Check out some demos at their official website.
2. TRANSPORT AND ACCOMMODATION. Neither of us are particularly precious about where we lay down to sleep each night and are planning on staying in cheap hostels, roadhouses, campsites and stables. Likewise, we won't be taking taxis or stretch limos. Instead we'll be squished inside cargo trains, passing cars, on top of horses, bikes and on our own two feet. However, all of this costs money, and your support will in part fund this part of the trip.
