GEYSER is an atmospheric installation which draws on notions of thermal bathingand its ability to awaken ones awareness of body and space.
Shifts in temperature, feelings of weightlessness and the experience of full body immersion, activate our senses beyond the everyday. GEYSER explores how sound, light, form and texture can heighten our bodies' response to space in the absence of water.
Coming from the minds of two designers and a sonic artist, it explores the potential for architecture and sound to create environments of sensory bathing. The installation will lead visitors through a sequence of varying environments. Each space will offer the human body differing sensory experiences, encouraging visitors to engage with their immediate surroundings and reflect on their own physical responses.
GEYSER will be held at manysquaremetres, a grandiose old wool warehouse in Kensington. It is a site specific artwork which looks to respond to this historic venue through its material choices and formal qualities.
GEYSER is the first show to be supported by manysquaremetres under their msqmPresents program and will take place from the 28th - 30th of September as part of the Melbourne Fringe Festival. www.geyserproject.com.
