Who is Matt Jones?

Life Bridge is Matt’s passion project to bring about change where it is needed most. He can not do this alone, and only you have the ability to bring this to life by supporting this initiative.

His background is grounded as an Australian Army Officer, and a graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon. He was award the Australian Active Service Medal for his role in East Timor.

Matt’s military experience was varied, extending across two decades. In 2004, Matt was responsible to stand-up then manage the Australian Army response to the 2004 Aceh tsunami relief effort.

In 2004, Matt received a prestigious Churchill Fellowship to undertake research through UK and USA to examine successful models of social enterprise. This was a turning point as it was an opportunity to see new ideas.

In 2008, Matt was presented with a Leadership Award from the then Australian Governor General, Major General Michael Jeffery, AC, AO, CVO, MC and then Australian Prime Minister, the Honorable Kevin Rudd MP, at the Australian Davos Connection Future Summit.

Matt commenced the Vincent Fairfax Fellowship at the beginning of 2009, awarded to selected Australian leaders to increase their capacity for ethical deliberation in order to contribute to a better society.

Matt founded the company Social Alchemy in 2006 after leaving the Army, which has been a journey for him in itself. Social Alchemy is in the business of bringing people together.

Matt is encouraged by remembering the African proverb:
"If you want to go fast, travel alone.
If you want to travel far, then let's go together."
