Here at The Locavore Edition, we're working hard to reconnect producers and consumers. 

This all started when we helped organise an Australian based challenge with the folks at OpenIDEO that sought to create connection between the urban and the rural. To start this process we want to create a food map of Australia and a wonderful media platform to support our regional farmers, small food producers and food providers. NSW starts now!

We're putting our words into action, so right now we’re compiling the first comprehensive print and online guide to the people and businesses dedicating themselves to independent sustainable food production and supply across the regions of New South Wales. 

All of our researchers and writers volunteer their time (the sweeties) so we don’t charge anyone for inclusion in our books or on our website. This is where you come in!


Where Your Money's Going

This campaign will cover the cost of printing and binding the Field Guide to NSW Produce. We're also working on a smart phone app so that you'll always have a guide to local produce at your fingertips. And then we're going to get cracking on the rest of Australia!


What We've Been Doing

Wouldn't it be great if you had a simple way of understanding where your produce comes from and who produced it? Don't you think farmers deserve a yummy (free) platform where they are celebrated and have their stories told? Don't you think it's great that we do all the hard work and put it online for all to enjoy?

We're interviewing leading thinkers, chefs and food activists. We're also working with Farmers' Markets and other stockists to track down the many small businesses that exist outside of the mainstream food supply chain so that we can tell their stories.

We need your help so that we can get this guide book designed and printed!

We know what we're doing! We've already produced the Field Guide to Victorian Produce.

Our Victoria guidebook and website profiles 300%20 of the state’s best and brightest. No-one pays to be featured so this is democratic and representative. Here are some nice things people have said about us so far.

In NSW we plan to feature specialists, artisans, family farms, independent growers, rare breeds, heirlooms, cooperatives, stockists, distributors and small businesses dedicated to the production and supply of quality, sustainable food products and experiences.

To inspire Australians and international visitors to look locally and to think seasonally, while providing an editorial voice and online community for regional food based businesses to connect with consumers and each other.
