By teaching a talented Indonesian ceramics team how to make my work with the best quality materials and equipment, I am getting ever closer to realising my dream of operating a successful business that encourages the use of traditional techniques and continues to improve other peoples abilities and understanding.
By contributing to this collaboration, you will not only assist in enabling the continuity of this fantastic project but also receive a unique piece of stoneware for yourself.
Enabling a team of ceramicists in Indonesia to utilise time honoured traditional techniques which are rapidly becoming more scarce with the advent of improving technology. Through fair-trade collaboration Dimity is able to bring her wealth of knowledge to communities in Indonesia enabling local artists.
With a little assistance this exciting project will be able to be developed and continue to provide fantastic products while assisting small communities with employment opportunities and further educating talented ceramicists.
These organic ceramics are produced to the highest of standards with lasting quality and unique tactile nature only found in Dimity's studios. Each piece is hand turned on a wheel, then carved with a traditional technique known as Sgraffito to remove sections of coloured slip to then leave the desired pattern or design behind.
