TWINSHIPS at West Space
TWINSHIPS is an attempt to create two simultaneous worlds – the sonic and the physical – in order to challenge the way we observe and perceive people. A jewel-like reflective centerpiece that projects images of botanical and architectural landscapes is both set and metaphor. As Butterworth dances her solo, she manipulates the mirrored psyche of the TWINSHIPS’ worlds to expose notions of perception, truth and misrepresentation.
This project was initially produced and presented by Dancehouse as a part of their Housemate Residency Program in 2010.
"...Deanne Butterworth’s adroit coding of her choreography (inflected with years of dance know-how, superb balance and rapid gear-shifting) and the work’s near obsessive-compulsive realisation made for a compelling experience." (Keith Gallasch, RealTime)
This re-treatment of TWINSHIPS will occur at West Space Gallery, 225 Bourke Street, Melbourne and will be quite a different presentation to the first season.
