The Melbourne Music and Video Festival aims to enhance creative opportunities for Australian artists at both emerging and professional levels by opening up a dialogue between two relatively different arts industries. By facilitating collaboration, networking, experimentation and conversation, the festival will provide opportunities for emerging artists to showcase their skill and work. By combining the two industries of film making and music into one annual event, the festival will create and foster a new community between local filmmakers, musicians and writers that will celebrate the uniqueness and diversity of contemporary Australian culture.

Upon successful completion of this Pozible campaign, we will have the funding required to fuel our marketing and advertising campaign, and allow us to fully develop a festival website. A large component of the festival will be the conversations had through our online network, which will also allow artists and viewers to view a digital version of artist's work online, and follow those film makers and musicians to support their next exciting projects!

The Pozible funding will cover:

1. Building a website and online forum: $800

2. Marketing, printing and advertising: $700

Any extra monies raised will go directly back in to the production of the Festival.

Already with the support of industry professionals and emerging artists aching for chance to be involved in and explore the opportunities that will be made available by the success of the festival, the time is now for Melbourne to support artists in this collaborative, inclusive and exciting way.

The festival will run over the course of a week held towards the end of Summer in 2014. It will be presented as a multi-layered festival, promoting active participation in events for both artists and the general public, and will establish relationships that will see the festival become an exciting annual event staged in our city.

The festival's components will be as follows:

1. An opening night, which will feature both indoor and outdoor projections and screens showcasing the works of film makers and artists who actively make film and video in response to the music industry and are in support of emerging and established musicians, live bands performing in support of or who directly feature in the film maker's works, and celebratory drinks to officially open the festival.

2. Weeklong curated exhibitions: staged through various galleries throughout Melbourne, each exhibition will feature both emerging and professional works by film makers. With a mix of music videos, film in response to music, collaboration and artistic film stills, the exhibitions will act as a platform for these artists to be recognised amongst their peers, but also to continue to open up the dialogue for the possibilities of collaboration.

3. Evening gigs at Melbourne music institutions over the week of the festival, showcasing some of the best bands and acts in Melbourne who have been supportive of the festival, and who also want to join the festival's conversation.

4. Various workshops and lectures by industry professionals to allow for personal and professional development for interested members of the general public and also for the artists themselves to come together, collaborate, explore new ideas and make new discoveries within their respective fields. Each lecture or workshop is will be focused on a particular area of the arts business, for example, Marketing For Film, or Capturing Sound, but will also feature some more creative events to allow artists to brainstorm new creative ideas.

5. Closing event, featuring celebratory drinks, live music, and selected visual film maker's works.
