:: the end of the beginning ::

We had a dream. That dream took us to Africa, Maree Antoinette and I. Ghana was born in my eyes for the very first time. My dream had 3 names written on a small piece of paper. They were the people who represented influence in the land of the Black STAR. I wanted to expand my visual portrait portfolio.

While we were traveling and taking photos around Ghana, we were introduced to people who could potentially connect us to those 3 magnificent personalities from my "dream list". Within 24 h, I found myself behind the camera, taking pictures of my dream. Another 48 h later, we decided to create a list. A list of people who greatly contributed to Ghana. We dialed the connections and everything became frozen in pictures.

The clip above shows my very first connection with those amazing people, a ‘behind the scenes’. Some of the people that we had the privilege to shoot include: Azumah Nelson (three-time world champion), Kojo Antwi (Musician), David Dontoh (Actor), Charles Kumi Gyamfi (Footballer) and 18 other LEGENDS.

I observed a simple confirmation that those people never gave up on their dreams.

21 Legends , MADE in Ghana

The ‘21 Legends, Made in Ghana’ , Exhibition and Photo Book will reveal the profound wisdom and insights of 21 of our time’s greatest Ghanaian writers, artists, philosophers, politicians, athletes, designers, activists, musicians, religious and business leaders.

I see this project as having layers of products that come from it. The act of bringing people together and sharing those stories is a product in itself. The photographs and stories that we will exhibit are a major product and will end up as a limited edition book and limited edition prints.

I believe that any art medium can inspire and create change in the world.

:: Heart of the project ::

The main focus will be on capturing the moments, when The Legends can let go and give themselves permission to be open and honest. That’s the perspective we want to capture. That’s the story we want to tell. Their stories.
