Our project is budgeted to build two DARWIND5 Trekker production systems rated at 500W and 1.5kW and sized to fit into compact standard "off the shelf"+ "Carry home" packaging sizes. The deployment goal of the DARWIND5 Trekkers is a rapid "out of the box" experience, achieved by using a reliable "umbrella like" quick expand and collapse Harvistor design. As such the DARWIND5 Trekker requires no tools to setup or teardown as needed.
USES, USES AND MORE USES: DARWIND5 TREKKER UTILITY IS UNSURPASSED
The DARWIND5 Trekker can be easily toted around anywhere, making it easy to stow the DARWIND5 Trekker on a boat, in an RV or, in the back of a truck or bottom of canoe. Flat earth deployment uses the DARWIND5 Trekker's telescoping tripod where three legs are staked to the ground and the entire system is also cable tethered to a single "dog screw" in the ground. Optionally the DARWIND5 Trekker turbine bottom can also be cabled to the ground with three guy wires for those really high wind locations.

The Trekker's portable packaging is sized compactly for easy shipping, storage and stowage at 60cm Height * 60cm Depth * 180cm(500W)/240cm(1.5kW) Length. The DARWIND5 500W Model 1219 Trekker tripod fits into an event smaller space at 40cm Height * 40cm Depth * 215cm Length. Use the included soft tote bags and the dimensions are even smaller so you can cram the DARWIND5 Trekker in those tight stowage spaces. :)

DARWIND5 Trekker Boat, yacht, garage or shed roof or RV roof mounts are also possible with a little bit of DIY creativity. Even moderately sloped roof mounts are supported with adjustable tripod legs. :)

The RANS Solvers helped Harvistor create the DARWIND5 design to reliably generate electricity in low mount turbulent wind using Harvistor proprietary long power stroke rotor blades & Harvistor proprietary airfoil design which uses higher overall turbine solidity and brand new Harvistor invented blade telemetry at slower rotational speeds to create 35% more power at 25% lower mount heights than the current market leaders with 3X overall normal field use life. For example field tests have proven the DARWIND5 design can turn at 220 rpm at 5 m/s to produce useful quiet trickle charge DC power for boats, RVs, campers and expedition camps( see the first field test in raw form on youtube at http://youtu.be/SD1TGi0ges0 )
DARWIND5'S UMBRELLA STYLE EXPAND/COLLAPSE DESIGN FOR FAST POWER UP & CHARGING!
The 500W DARWIND5 Trekker Model 1219 system is 1.2m in diameter and approximately 2m tall when opened and is rated up to 20 Amp output at 800 rpm (24 m/s wind). Installation is expected to be less than 15 minutes out of the box first time, including tripod mount to your target ground surface (we are sure you will get faster the second time!). The DARWIND5 500W Model 1219 is designed to fit in an alpine ski like tote sized bag 215cm long and weigh less than 40lbs (18.5kg) total. The DARWIND5 companion tripod mount used for both DARWIND5 models is made of carbon composite tube, re-enforced with stainless steel and aluminium and is designed to weigh less than 9kg(20lbs).
HOW WE GET TO DARWIND5 PRODUCTION QUALITY WITH YOUR HELP
Our Canadian subcontractor building the production version requires $7500.00 CDN to build the DARWIND5 500W Trekker (or "Fat Boy" as we call it internally :) ) and $10,000 CDN for the 1.5kW version. Depending on your power needs the DARWIND5 can deliver the power you need safely and reliably for up to 60 DC charging AMPs as designed. Your pledge will go along way to helping us realize the DARWIND5 Trekker in both sizes.
WHERE WE ARE AT: DARWIND5 Trekker 500W PARTS & MATERIALS SELECTED
We have already sourced and created some of the DARWIND5 500W Model 1219 parts (see picture below) and are ready to build the first production unit. (the old 3mm thick steel rotating shaft is shown which is being replaced by an ABS component based rotating shaft, also shown, so we know DARWIND5 has the torque and rpm to do work, as shown in the vimeo video link above).
