Hi there

My name is Zoi, I am a singer from Chiba, in Japan, and am now living in Australia.

I play a style of music that can be loosely termed as ‘acoustic country’, but the sound also has elements of folk, jazz, pop, and more than a hint of traditional Japanese music – all with an emphasis on melody.

I am heading into the studio to record my debut CD – and I need your help!

For the past year I have been collaborating with Damian Spencer, a Canberra based guitar player/ song writer, and together we have been performing around Canberra as an acoustic duo. (Damian has a strong pedigree in country music and has previously played the Tamworth Country Music Festival, the Gympie Muster and has been a finalist in the Tamworth Songwriter Contest). Highlights this year have included playing at the 2012 Canberra Nara Candle Festival and also playing live on ABC Radio Canberra.

Together, we have been working hard on many original songs, and will soon go into the studio to record them. The songs include two love songs, ‘Koi Uta’ (sung in Japanese) and also ‘Tell Me’. Damian has written some amazingly fantastic songs this year, including the quirky pop tune ‘Spider In The House’ and ‘1000 Miles’, which Damian sings and I provide harmony vocals on. We have several really good songs that we want everybody to hear – but I need you to help me get there !

I am an independent artist, which means I don’t have the support and funding of a record company to help me, but I believe that my songs have the potential to reach a greater audience if I can get them recorded and released – which is why I need the help of fans, followers and friends to help me make this happen. Releasing commercial music takes time – and money. From the studio costs, (then mixing and mastering), to graphic designers and artwork, CD manufacturing costs and distribution, promotion and publicity (important as I’d like to get the album heard). I also want to try and promote the CD in Japan and do an ‘album launch’ show to launch the CD.
