Paul has brought over fifteen years of design and development experience in a range of technical professions, including 7 years as a specialist in Augmented Reality to co-found Explore Engage.
Most notably Paul was a senior 3D engineer / designer of medical simulators for a Bio-Medical EEG device company in Philadelphia, PA, USA. Simulators ranged from virtual patients (for Critical-Care Nurse teaching of EEG monitoring practices during surgery - using haptic devices to allow trainees to ‘touch’ the virtual patient), to stereoscopic HMD 3D animated sequences of detailed surgeries, to 3D animations / modelling of anatomical anomalies of the brain, nervous, and respiratory systems. Multinational clients included Pixar Animation Studios, Philips Medical Systems, GE, Mallinckrodt, and Siemens’ Medical Systems.
Paul has spoken at conferences and guest lectured at many universities, including the Philadelphia University of the Arts, Philadelphia’s Moore College of Art and Design, University of Sydney (Augmented Reality), the Annual Symposium on Small Computers in the Arts (SCAN 1998), and Medicine Meets Virtual Reality (MMVR 2000).
Paul has worked as Creative Director of a Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing (MMORPG) Video Game, Paper Mechanic for Funtastic Toys, and Special Effects (SFX) Supervisor for several short films.
As CTO, Paul has led initial development of Augmented Reality sunglasses and been instrumental in developing relations with several key partners and experts in the field of Augmented Reality and 3D Simulated Environments.
Paul’s main responsibilities with Explore Engage are:
Chief architect, technology strategist, vision based creative r&d, technology visionary and evaluation and operations.
