Period classical quartet for Banff!!!
WOW! We're almost there!
We only have $300 to go until we hit our target!
Thank you to everyone for supporting us! Hooray!

Please support our string quartet so we can participate in a residency at the Banff Centre in Canada!
Our Project
We have received a wonderful and exciting invitation to undertake a chamber music residency in 2013 at the Banff Centre Canada! During the residency we will receive two weeks of intense training with, world-class soloist, concertmaster and the period baroque & classical violin specialist Marc Destrubé.
We will be attending as a string quartet and have planned to work on Quartets of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven and Boccherini. This will be in preparation for concerts we have planned to perform in Australia in 2013.
The focus will be exploring the difference a specialised approach of interpreting these works with original classical instruments, classical bows and gut strings can provide.
What is Banff?
Banff is a unique and magical place designed and has been responsible for the development of many artists and ensembles from all around the world.
Banff is a specialised arts and culture Institution based in Canada that, as they put it,: “promote and foster a creative culture that stimulates personal and professional growth."Banff provides programs in the arts and creativity, leadership development, mountain culture, and the environment. Arts programs are at the core of the Banff centre ... aimed at providing training and professional development at a post-graduate level."
"The residencies are designed to provide a period of focused time for musicians to concentrate on personal artistic development and prepare for performances, auditions, recordings and competitions. With the help of the artistic director, residents shape their own program and are given the opportunity to collaborate with distinguished guest artists and other international musicians. Banff provides a very rare opportunity for skilled musicians to further develop their skills and so maximise their potential as performing artists."*

We need your help!!!
Unfortunately our scholarship only covers part of the fees for attending. We still have to pay for our own flights from Australia, Europe and America as well as our accommodation/living costs. Any financial contribution towards our goal would be a huge help that will be awarded not only with sincere gratitude but also a series of delectable prizes.
Why Support us?
We are all enthusiastic young professionals in our specialist period instrument field. This residency represents a once in a lifetime chance to build on the skills we already have by developing a deeper technical and musical understanding of the historic ways in which to perform classical chamber music in this special environment.Together we have a strong passion for Baroque and Classical repertoire, which is nurtured by both our studies in Australia, America and Europe. We have and are continuing to work with some of Australia's leading period instruemnt ensembles, including the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Pinchgut Opera, Salut! Baroque & the Australian Haydn Ensemble.
So please help us get to Banff so that we can take advantage of this wonderful opportunity to perfect our skills and continue to create positive environments in which to enjoy our passion for this rare and special form of music making.
Many thanks for taking the time to read about our project.
