'Where there's a will, there's a way... out.'
Ali is an Afghani man seeking refuge in Australia but has ended up in the Woomera Detention Centre - the infamous subject of asylum seeker debate from 1999-2003. Ali runs. He runs compulsively, back and forth between the compound fences in the stark South Australian summer. Red dirt beneath his feet. Trapped. He runs like a mad man, day in day out, until... he collapses and is taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital. And somewhere along the way, he finds his freedom.
Ali 707 is is a seven-minute short film based on a true story, set in the former Woomera Detention Centre, 2001.

Writer / Director Hannah Moore spent time visiting the Woomera Detention Centre in the years it was run by ACM, under the Howard government. She established relationships with a number of asylum seekers and refugees from the Middle East and was privy to their stories. Ali 707 is one of them.
Hannah studied acting at the VCA and has appeared in film and on-stage in Melbourne and Adelaide. She is currently completing a degree in Creative Writing at Melbourne University.
Ali 707 wil be realised by an award winning team including; Cameron Ford - winner of the Tropfest best cinematography award, (check out his DOP reel here: http://vimeo.com/88316662007 ) and Jacinta Hill from 'Architecture in the Wild' has signed on as Production Designer.
Although all pre-production for the film will take place in Melbourne, principal photography will be in William Creek, South Australia.
