The Ranges has been a share house since before any of the tenants can remember and finally, the lease is up.
This place means so much to all of the people that have passed through it's doors. These walls could tell stories of sorrow and loss. It has been a saviour and a house of sins. Relationships have come together and fallen apart here. People have passed degrees and been completely off their faces. And one time, someone shit in the bathtub.
The idea is to document this household and all that it has done for the community that has been created here. In our last days, we are throwing a party to celebrate the epic nature of the beast that we affectionately refer to as 'The Ranges'. Despite our lost hearts at the finale of our lease, we wish to celebrate all that we have, all that we have had and all that we are. We estimate that over 150 people have crashed on this couch and about 50 people over the course of time have been lucky enough to call this place 'home'. Everyone from musicians, artists, students, bar staff and bikies have graced these hallowed floorboards. Think "He died with a felafel in his hand" but here and now.
To create this documentary, we need all of our previous housemates here to share in the glory days in one horrendous party. Most importantly, we need our cardinal saint.
Amy is in Bristol. She has no way of getting home.
Amy, in essence, is what bought this place together as we know it. She saved many of us who were in desperate times where we needed not only a place to stay, but a smile and a hug and a pint of cider. She brought the sunshine into our world and made this place work. Amy brought the crazy and the fun but also the rational and realistic. Each of us currently living here owes her a debt. She was the instigator of our home, our community- our family.
Amy has gone off in search of the greater good and ended up in the Brizzle Drizzle making a lousy six pounds an hour. She has just heard that the lease is expiring and is devastated. We need to bring her back any way we can to reunite our family in its final days before we all part ways in search of an unknown future.
Through Pozible and with your help, we will raise the money to make a documentary about this house and the stories of close friendships and the measures we will go to for the family that we created here.
Most importantly, we will bring Amy home for one last interpretive dance.
"Desperately Seeking Amy" will bring Amy home and create a documentary film about the people of this household and the journey that they go through in order to bring their family back together to celebrate the end of their world.
