The Project

We are in Brief Magazine: http://www.inbriefmag.com/

After 2012's success, in Brief wants 2013 to be bigger and better. We’ve still got our training wheels on. We want them off.

We've got the articles, we've got the art, we've already got three sparkling issues under our belts, but we need to get more copies out there.

Your donation will guarantee that our 2013 print run for issues #4 - #7 will increase from 400 up to 1000 copies per issue.

The Magazine

Read our past issues here: http://issuu.com/inbriefmagazine or via our website below.

in Brief is a free, Melbourne-based quarterly magazine. We challenge writers to bridge the gap between dinner table discussion and academic journal. We produce accessible work that conveys new ideas and creative thought.

Each issue is built around a theme that directs and inspires our contributors. We welcome articles, essays, short stories, poetry, photography and art from anyone who has something insightful and new to say. No topic is off limits, provided it’s broadly relevant to our theme. Past themes have been ‘Polemics’, ‘Metropolis’ and ‘Edible’.

'Paradise' is the theme of issue #4, the first issue of 2013. So we’re asking you, our contributors, friends and general well-wishers, to welcome the New Year by helping to make 2013 in Brief’s breakthrough year. Our target is $3000, which will allow us to keep the magazine freely available, unaffiliated, and, most importantly, help us to get more mags to more people.

The People

in Brief is run and funded by a committee of 25 young Melburnians.

Each issue, members of the committee are elected to various executive roles, with major decisions going to a vote before the committee. Alongside this work, committee members chip in $20 per issue for printing costs.

Britt Myers and Jack Kenchington-Evans are the proud parents of in Brief. They are the current heads of committee, and are regular contributors. Britt finished her Bachelor of Arts (Media & Communications) in 2011, and is currently studying Law at Melbourne Uni. Jack is completing a Bachelor of Arts/Laws at Monash Uni.

Where’s your donation going?

100% of your donation will go towards printing and mailing costs. No 'administrative' overheads, no union slush-funds, no coffees for committee members – just ink, paper and staples.
