Get to know your local musicians!
We're excited to announce that the City of Sydney is officially sponsoring Musomap to launch World Musician Day in Sydney, on Saturday April 6th 2013. A family friendly & free lunchtime event.

Every musician, professional / amateur & hobbyist, is invited to be get involved in this paid music opportunity. We'll be working with a variety of groups in addition to the City of Sydney such as MusicaViva, Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Australian Institute of Music, Shop Front, social food initiatives, local councils, cultural exchange programs and many other organisations.

Who will be performing?
Good question. We thought long and hard and came to the following conclusion.

If we want to find new and interesting music, who better to ask than the musicians of the world! This is the premise behind World Musician Day.

How much cash do we need to get this epic concept on the road?
We’ve already got a running start with a grant from the City of Sydney's Local Community Grants Program. They’ve handed over a $5000 cheque that we have set aside to pay 10 acts to lead this event.

Now, we need an extra $5000 to pay for...
- A number of basic stages in the park. Something to lift the performers up off the grass.
- Minimal sound production equipment hire. Amp. Speakers. Microphone.
- Flyers and posters to be plastered up around Sydney.
- Online social media marketing and communications.
- Event logistics and management.

A small amount from every supporter will get us over the line and help make this event a leading example of how musicians can work together and put on something progressive and revolutionary.


This year Sydney, next year Everywhere!
We aim to extend this project as far and as wide as we can in the music community. For now we are working with APRA AMCOS, MusicaViva, The Conservatorium of Music, The Australian Institute of Music, Australia Music, The Australia Arts Council, University of Technology Sydney, Sydney University and many other local music organisations.  We're also talking to some cool social initiatives like Flash Hub and Yelp Sydney who will be spreading the word about this epic event so watch this space :)

This event has been developed by the team behind the Global Map of Musicians to help celebrate every musician in Sydney. Next year we hope musicians will recreate this event in every major city around world.
