Pillow Princess is a short film in the style of Shaun of the Dead meets Kick-Ass.

About: The first official collaboration of Awesome Box Productions and Natotines Lighting and Production. Pillow Princess will show case some of South East Queensland’s veteran independent actors and actresses. Showing off some of the quality performers this state has to offer and their wide range of skills.

The production will also give up and coming creative’s Will Edmunds and Nathan Frost the chance to show just what they can do with an original story and a supportive team of creative’s behind them. Nathan Frost will lead the camera and lighting crews as the Director of Photography, whilst Will Edmunds takes the reins of the production and shows what he can do as a Director.

With a combined body of work including no less than three independent features and dozens upon dozens of short films worked on within the camera and lighting departments in just this year alone, Nathan and Will bring a fierce dedication and strong work ethic to all of their projects.

Plot: Sydney Bennett, your typical girl in her mid twenties who works a mundane job is about to wake up and find the world isn't the same place it was when she went to sleep. The dead have awoken and it’s up to Sydney and her best friend Dan Wright to stop the appending Zombie hoard from destroying the world.

Budget: Pillow Princess, is hoping to raise a minimum budget of $2000, to cover various expenses ranging from catering, gear hire, props, art and special effects. So far the Producers have put in enough money to cover the bare minimum that is required to shoot the picture. And we are hoping to gain enough support from the community to help give us just that little bit more funding to make the film look even better.

What your money funds: Your donations will go to helping us acquire the all important props for the film. At this stage of pre-production, we are going to be sourcing props from various friends and acquaintences. If we reach our goal, then we will be able to pay for props which will add to the production value of the film. We will be able to match the props to the Director's vision of the film instead of making do.

Your funds will also help us feed the crew. As it stands we are only able to cater the cast and crew with the most basic of dietary requirements. So sausages on bread is what it will probably end up been for the three days of shooting. Unless we reach our goal, then we will be able to pay for better quality meals and snacks during production.

Gear; your donations will help us get better lighting and camera equipment, giving us the means to produce a higher quality film. As it stands we will be working with our own equipment and whatever gear we can borrow off our fellow filmmakers. With your help, we will be able to afford to hire some more lights and maybe even a higher quality video camera such as a Sony F3 or Canon C300.

Art; your help will give us a better chance at securing a location to shoot at. The film takes place entirely in the lounge and kitchen of an apartment building. We are trying desperately to find a sponsor who is willing to provide the right location to us free of charge for the three days of shooting, but most ask for a financial deposit before they will let us in. With your help we may be able to sway their minds and find the perfect location for our short film.

Being a Zombie styled film, we will require some special effects make-up and fake blood. At this stage we have enough to pay for getting simple looking prosthetics and make-up, but with your help we will be able to get higher quailty looking zombies on screen.

Post Production; We are only in the beginning stages of pre-production, but we hope to pump the film out in a very limited time frame, and as such we will need an efficient and dedicated post production team. With your help we will be able to offer incentives to our post production team to offer their time and resources to give the film a polished look and sound. Decent colour grading, sound mixing and editing is essential to helping the film look professional, and with your help we can win over award winning colourists and composers to help finish the film.

Production: The shoot is scheduled to take place from the 11th to 13th January, and will include a stunning cast of Brisbane based actors. Our Cinematographer will achieve a unique and stylistic lighting style that will supplement the overall tone of the film. That added with breath taking performances and cinematic looking shots designed by our Director, this film will look like a professionally produced short film with the backing of Screen Australia, but on a tiny budget.

Team: Our team is a collection of industry professionals with years of experience working in the film and television industry within Brisbane and its surrounding areas. Our individual and combined works speak for themselves, having won awards in the past. We have worked to bring the visions of various types of filmmakers to life in the past and now feel like stepping up to the plate ourselves.

Will Edmunds (Director) - At the age of 15, Will Edmunds picked up a Handy Cam and started making parody films with his high school buddies.

What started as a fun way to pass the time, soon turned into an ambition to be the best in an incredibly well contested industry. This passion to be the best drives Will to constantly further his knowledge and learn as much as possible within his chosen career path. This is where his passion for telling stories through the camera has come from.

Will’s ambition helped him to secure his first role as the Focus Puller for the feature film production ‘Daddy’s Little Girl’, shot on the sunshine coast. And his most recent works include Camera Operator on the feature film 'A Hand of Art ', shot on location in Canberra.

He treats every production as if it were a chance to learn even more about the industry he loves. With every new bit of technology he uses, Will enriches his knowledge base and increases his skill set, culminating in the ability to more efficiently define his craft.
