Guess what?
We at Gold Satino have been asked to take our production of The Jar Collector to Brisbane for the Anywhere Theatre Festival! If only we could afford to get there. Please help us reach our target of $900 to help pay for flights accommodation and production costs. We want more people to see this wonderful production. it would be such a shame to let money stand in the way!
Gold Satino is a Melbourne Based theatre collective headed by theatre writer, director and performer Davina Wright. Alongside her is her trusty core team of creatives- Cazz Bainbridge, Xavier O'Shannessy and Ross de Winter.
Last year, Gold Satino saw it's first splash on into the big wide world stage in the premier season of The Jar Collector as part of the 2012 Melbourne Fringe Festival.
Cameron Woodhead from the Age newspaper had this to say in his sparkling review:
"FULL of young artists finding their way in the world of performance, this three-hander is a surreal engagement with director Davina Wright's family history. At 19, Wright inherited an antique bed, and the piece invokes the object's ghosts and its role in childbirth. Wright's great-grandmother delivered many babies on it - about half born alive, half dead.
Three iterations of a scenario with a pregnant woman, her descendant, and a silent boy plunge us into an enigmatic shadow-realm of memory and imagination. It is an excavation of the folkloric aspects of domestic history, but it comes to be dominated by the powerful and contradictory emotions women might feel about having children.
Wright has a talent for poetic drama and unorthodox imagery and her stage writing has promise. The performances were played with a finely controlled level of emotion."
Since then, we are delighted to be invited to tour up to Brisbane to perform as part of the Anywhere Theatre Festival. If only we could afford to get there! Please help us reach our target of $900 to get our cast a crew and their bathtub up to Brisbane.
