ABOUT OUR CAMPAIGN:
Have you noticed in recent years that the Gold Coast has become this thriving cultural city filled with vibrant people and bustling hubs? A totally different planet away from the city’s former reputation as a cultural wasteland, right? At the forefront of this bustle is Rabbit%20Cocoon, a creative precinct that initiates pathways for motivated people to run businesses, projects and events that promote a socially-inclusive and sustainable arts community.
Two years ago three young ladies hailing from the creative industries banded together to start Rabbit%20Cocoon, and set out to fill a bunch of warehouses with Gold Coast artists, designers, musicians, film-makers, writers, fashion designers and entrepreneurs. We partnered with a philanthropist to allow us to activate these spaces, and we each invested our personal time and money towards breathing life into this precinct. Rabbit+Cocoon officially launched in November 2011, and is currently open to the public during normal trading hours and community events.

Our vision is simple: we want to build a strong cultural identity for the Gold Coast, and to put our city and our people on the world map. We work towards this by providing creative people with spaces for work and show, and by delivering free programs for thousands of locals and visitors to enjoy.
We were recently approved to start trading as the Gold Coast's first registered creative precinct! This means we now have the capacity to offer to the public more, and better programs, facilities and opportunities. BUT we badly need funds to make this a reality. We have taken Rabbit%20Cocoon this far, now we need the help of the the community (that means YOU!) to help us get to this next, exciting level.
By donating to Rabbit+Cocoon you are actively providing a long-term home for Gold Coast creativity, and helping us invest in the cultural future of the city we love. $6400 TO UPGRADE OUR MULTI-PURPOSE COMMUNAL SPACE
Right now our 240 sqm event space is bare bones and in desperate need of a facelift. We need to hire tradies to renovate the floor, paint the walls and build showcase structures. We also want to buy a data projector and projector screen for people to use during public events. Imagine a stunning multi-event communal space that YOU can use for your next product launch, art exhibition, conference or film screening!

For the past five months we have been working with our amazing resident designer to put together a hardcopy 28-page book to give out to educational and cultural institutions, the media and potential sponsors. Inside this book you’ll find in-depth info, stats and pics that highlight the diversity of our precinct to businesses and organisations here and overseas. We also want to show the world that we can offer the same high-standard services and facilities as any other city, and that by partnering with us people will be supporting the continuation of an independently-run cultural enterprise.
$750 TO PRINT AND DISTRIBUTE OUR BROCHURES
We want to print and widely distribute our 8-page R+C concertina brochures to the public. This gives everyone a decent snapshot of who we are, what we provide and how you can be a part of our creative family. It also gives the public general info on our programs and spaces.
$1000 TO PRINT OUR RABBIT + COCOON MARKETING MATERIALS
We aim to print and distribute limited-edition Rabbit+Cocoon marketing items, including tote bags, postcards, stickers and T-shirts. These will help us promote our initiative and our brand locally and internationally.
All these marketing materials, renovations and equipment costs a crazy amount of moolah totalling $12k! As a Not-for-Profit organisation, we are grateful to have been able to source seed funding and in-kind support to embark in the designing and filming process. We now need the community's help to afford us some dineros to bring our wonderful space, our vibrant film and our beautiful publicity materials to life! And what's great is that your contribution directly supports Gold Coast based printers, designers, writers, photographers, film-makers and labourers!

BACKGROUNDER
Rabbit + Cocoon provides spaces and resources for motivated people to run arts practices, businesses and events that contribute to culture on the Gold Coast and beyond. We also stage programs for locals and visitors to enjoy, and we collaborate on projects that foster cultural development and social inclusion.
We are the home of:
Miami Marketta – a monthly arts, fashion and food bazaar
The Shed – a coffee hub serving delicious light meals, coffee and specialty teaRabbit Radio – the city’s first independent progressive radio station
Studios UpLATE – a twilight open studios and networking event (relaunching end 2012)
Currently we service 6500 people a month through our on-site businesses and public events, which include workshops, performances, product launches and exhibitions.Our creative precinct holds 14 warehouses, which we have lovingly turned into arts and design studios, coworking labs , retail shops, photography studios and music rehearsal spaces. We also have a radio station, a coffee hub, an outdoor stage and a multi-purpose space (which we need funds to renovate).
Since our launch 10 months ago we have delivered cultural development programs that have since benefited tens of thousands of people, and assisted with promoting the careers of numerous local creatives and entrepreneurs and businesses.

During this entire time we, the Co-Directors, have volunteered countless of hours each week towards our community precinct. That’s right, we do not get paid to run Rabbit+Cocoon, and any profits from our events go directly towards infrastructure and programming. Sure, with our skills-sets and industry experience we could have easily taken the full-time employee route and indulge in a fancy lifestyle of mini-mansions, luxury cars and twenty-four hour butlers. But being the people that we are, we wouldn't have been able to sleep at night knowing we had a more socially-responsible purpose in life.
During this entire time we, the Co-Directors, have volunteered countless of hours each week towards our community precinct. That’s right, we do not get paid to run Rabbit+Cocoon, and any profits from our events go directly towards infrastructure and programming. Sure, with our skills-sets and industry experience we could have easily taken the full-time employee route and indulge in a fancy lifestyle of mini-mansions, luxury cars and twenty-four hour butlers. But being the people that we are, we wouldn't have been able to sleep at night knowing we had a more socially-responsible purpose in life.
We made a conscious decision to pass on other opportunities to dedicate our time towards developing a precinct that would champion Gold Coast talent here and beyond. A precinct that would give many of us a reason to remain on the Gold Coast. A precinct that would showcase our city as a culturally-thriving region - a place where our children could grow up surrounded by a wealth of creativity and vibrancy.
We need this Pozible funding to continue running our precinct, it's as simple as that!
