A Record attempt to circumnavigate Australia on Solar power supplied from a mobile vehicle , Producing zero emissions From the electric vehicle Driving and charging. One EV ,One family of four , on Highway One, One will to spread the word on electric vehicle travel. Visiting 250 plus schools and 500 plus supporters to educate them on energy efficiency and recycling ,Selling and giving away energy saving products along the way. Product inventory will include Led Down lights, Compact florescent globes, Low flow shower heads and power saving smart power boards
The Jones family will Give up a year of their time to drive around Australia visiting schools and supporters along the way. The Electric vehicle will only be charged by solar electricity provided by the Family Camper van.
Between 50 and 150 km will be traveled each day. Then the vehicle will be plugged in to the solar supply for replenishment. The traveled coordinates will be updated daily on our Facebook page and the next days trip will commence from the last coordinate finished the day before. The trip will be entirely carbon neutral with all fuel consumed by the camper support vehicle being renewable Bio diesel and used cooking oil. The Camper will be fitted with low energy lighting and a composting toilet. Rainwater will be harvested from the solar roof and used for showers and washing etc.
The main attraction the Ev will be promoted and used to give people the experience of electric vehicle use and the benefits of using no fossil fuels.
This Project is in funding stage and if funding goal is reached we plan to start our trip in March 2013.
Funding will provide Purchase of an EV the star of the show, Solar system and battery storage for charging the Ev at night.
Also a trailer to carry the Ev from Finish point and back to the starting point each day.
The Running costs of the event will also be provided from funding circa 100k. The Jones family will provide a converted bus for sleeping, towing a trailer with solar cells.
At the end of our journey the solar array and and excess pledges will be used with permission on a solar farming project in Sydney NSW .Stay tuned on this site and our media sites for future detail.
