2/7: Tiger Airways grounding has hit us hard! We are now several hundred dollars out of pocket so if you are keen to support the project all additional funds will go to fill this gap. If you have any questions feel free to contact me directly on [email protected] Cheers, Dan

16/6: Thanks to those who have supported us so far! We have made our minimum target, but we still have further costs so we still hope people are keen to contribute while there are rewards remaining. If you have any questions feel free to contact me directly on [email protected] Cheers, Dan

We have been accepted to participate in Underbelly Arts residency program on Sydney Harbour's Cockatoo Island! For more information on Underbelly Arts please see their website. Having secured other funding for our travel (thanks to RMIT Link Arts) and production equipment (thanks to Underbelly Arts), we still require a funding injection to cover our food and accommodation costs while on Cockatoo Island and this is where we hope you can support our project.

As this is our very first development period for this work, even a small investment will help us to make this next 12 months of work possible. This is an opportunity to work on Cockatoo Island is too good to refuse, but we still hope that we can all keep the wolves from the door while we maximise this unique opportunity to travel to Sydney so that we can commit ourselves 100% to the development process. All supporters of this new work will find a special place in our hearts and be the first to know about our future developments as we lead towards the 2012 Next Wave Festival. During Underbelly Arts we will be working on two sections of the work: The Boat and The Shore.

“A man came to a river carrying a fox, a duck, and a bag of corn. There was a boat in which he could ferry one of the three items across the river at any one time. He could not leave the fox alone with the duck, nor the duck alone with the corn, so how did he get all three across?"
Paul Sloane & Des McHale, Great Lateral Thinking Puzzles, 1994

The Stream / The Boat / The Shore / The Bridge is an allegory for our contemporary world where we all need something, but can't yet agree on how we're going to get it. Like a lateral thinking puzzle or life sized board game played at the site of a real bridge over a real river we'll ask you: How do you see it? What do you want? What's the next move?

WHO WE ARE...

Having conceived the foundations of this project, Dan Koop (www.dankoop.net) has selected a creative team that has complimentary skills. Dan has a strong history of conceiving and delivering large projects, with management skills especially honed while working within the program team for large multi art form organizations like Brisbane Powerhouse and Sydney Festival. Andrew’s primary professional output has been design based since graduating from VCA and commencing work with Melbourne Theatre Co. Both Dan and Andrew have a long history of working together stretching back to 2001 and the first time Dan, Andrew and Max Milne (www.maxmilne.com) worked together was when Max photographed 24003 (www.dankoop.net/24003). Georgia Humphries (http://www.georgina-humphries.blogspot.com) brings a strong visual aesthetic and experience working with a variety of “DIY” simple materials and will be able to contribute to, and fully realize, designs and Caroline Gasteen is currently studying a Bachelor of Fine Art.
