Disengagement and social isolation caused by lack of confidence and alienation, may be prevented in young adults through education that develops social intelligence skills and positive workplace relationships

                    

     Image Power Australia is a Registered Training Organisation based in Perth Western Australia. We aim to develop unique training programs that focus on social intelligence skills. Our training is designed to develop social confidence, skill and consideration when interacting with those unknown to us. We also aim to create intercultural expertise and skills for positive global human interactions.

So… what do WE have to offer?

     The Employment Advantage website contains two training programs for young people, ages 13-17, to aid in their journey to develop social skills and employability.

     We are a small self-funded innovative, educational organisation seeking the funding to assist us to provide these programs to schools/educational institutions at continuing low cost.

     The Employment Advantage is an online job search training program for young people – it teaches job search skills and confidence that will create life-time employment resilience,even in challenging job markets. It is a five module, 21 lesson program that is unique in the world. Most such programs teach basic information about the application process, whereas The Employment Advantage seeks to create a complete understanding of the whole process and why certain things work and others don’t.

     It builds a strong foundational knowledge of how to recognise employment markets and how to succeed no matter what the applicant’s skills, experience or barriers to employment may be. It aims to do this in an engaging manner. This program has achieved national accreditation in Australia.

     We have also now developed an adult version of this program for people experiencing employment challenges. With this program we provide low cost employment mentoring for those adults experiencing difficulties entering the job market.

              

               

     The second program, Developing Social Skills (for the Workplace) is designed to empower young people with social confidence, that can enable them to develop empathy, responsibility and social awareness that can encourage the achievement of a life full of positive relationships. This program teaches social skills through the development of social intelligence, and aims to create an even playing field in social awareness and facility, no matter a young person’s background. At present we teach teachers within schools to deliver this program and provide them with all the resources they need to do this, however we wish to include in this an online platform to assist teachers to deliver this more easily in remote areas and to increase engagement in students. This program has also achieved national accreditation in Australia.

     Both of these programs use evidence based research and have been developed and trialled over 10 years. There have been significant amounts of time, effort and personal funding invested into the research and development of these two programs.

     Our limited promotion has been by simple mail outs to schools and calling schools to create awareness. Despite our lack of promotion and marketing we now have 40 schools in Western Australia that have used the programs and we have had over 55,000 views on our website in the past 18 months. Many schools wish to take up these programs but simply do not have the funding.  There are still many schools that we have not been in contact with in other parts of Australia whose students would benefit from these programs.

     We understand that we need to promote our programs and provide them at low cost to enable greater uptake by schools and education providers who are unable to fund such programs. Pozible funding assistance would enable us to continue to offer the programs at low cost, provide greater awareness of the availability of these programs and provide financial assistance to further develop them.
