Hi there! I'm Bree and I'm a 3rd year film student at QUT in Brisbane. I have made a short documentary (The Creative Condition) as one of our final year film projects, but now I need you to help me raise funds to market and distribute the project. So what's it all about? Here's a quick summary:

The tortured artist is alive but not so well!

Vincent Van Gogh, Sylvia Plath and Kurt Cobain all had two things in common – they were all great artists, and they all suffered from poor mental health. However the comparisons do not end with these three, with many creative practitioners being afflicted with mental health problems - in particular Bipolar Disorder and Depression. No creative discipline is exempt from these disorders, with a number of painters, writers, comedians, actors, musicians, filmmakers and people in other art forms all struggling with their mental condition.

This documentary will follow one girl’s struggle with Bipolar disorder and the impact that it will have on her creative future. It will explore the links between creativity and poor mental health, as well as the stigma surrounding mental illness and treatment in general.

So where is the project at now?

The documentary has been made (and it has been an amazing learning experience!) and we are not far away from finishing the final cut. But now I need to be able to fund the marketing and distribution of the film, and pay back a few small loans (I flew 6 members of my crew to Sydney to interview a leading world expert, but I'm still manning sausage sizzles to pay off the trip!)

My funding goal is $500, as this is enough to get me on my way to distribution, and I intend to offer rewards in the form of special mention in the film credits for small donations ($5+), a copy of the film for the next amount of donations ($10+), and a copy of the film, plus extended interview footage and special features for higher amounts ($25+).

I have been shown amazing support for this documentary already, with total strangers congratulating me on making this film.
There is so much love for this project and I would love to see that grow. The message it has to share is an important one, and it would be a shame for the doco to never be seen by audiences.

I hope you can help me out smiley
