A body-horror film as interpreted by Mike Leigh, 'Womb' walks a curious line between horror and reality, depicting an expecting mother - deeply troubled by and afraid of her unborn child - as she struggles to maintain her sanity amidst a mess of medical imposition and mechanical oppression.
Written and directed by Melbourne based filmmaker David Ward, 'Womb' is a heavily layered, methodically paced, deeply disturbing and - above all - very exciting short film project; the powerful, resonant result of a great labor of love shared by Ward, producer Josie Hess and Director of Photography Thomas Hayes.
Together, these three unique voices in the Melbourne film scene are hoping to create a film that raises the bar for short horror films, featuring a wild, oppressive sound design and score by Melbourne psychedelic musician Tim McCormack and frighteningly realistic special effects make-up by Tristan Lucas, 'Womb' aims to proves that the horror genre may be as subversive, intelligent and metaphorical as one wishes it to be.

Principal photography for 'Womb' concluded in a dingy toilet (no pun intended) on Thursday October 11th. The footage is currently being processed and post-production will have well and truly begun by the end of October.
What 'Womb' and it's creatives require now is that little extra push in the region of $1000 to get it over the line, and ensure that processing the Super 16mm film, editing the film, mastering the audio, professional colour grading and producing a high quality deliverable for festival submission and distribution is achieved.
One need only look at the production stills and concept artwork for the film to know that what David, Josie and the rest of the 'Womb' team are working on is something quite special, and something that needs your support to push it over the line.
