Thanks to you, we made our target of $20,000! Thank you so much to everyone who contributed, and to the many supporters who shared the project with their friends and helped to get the word out. You guys have been extraordinary, and we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. The next step for us is to start post-production and there are a lot of costs ahead of us to get NOVA finished. I know there are some people out there who wanted to contribute but missed the deadline.... well, this is your chance!
The NOVA Pozible page has now become a shop, and is once again open to receive contributions. We want to make NOVA as good as it can possibly be, and obviously the more we raise, the easier that task will be. So please consider supporting us on our post-production adventure and share this site with anyone you know who might be interested.

CREATOR’S INSPIRATION
Have you ever wondered if there is another version of you living a different version of your life? Would it be better? Would it be worse? What if you found yourself suddenly thrust into a reality that is almost identical to your real world, with one crucial exception: you do not exist.
Some quantum physicists are suggesting there could be a potentially infinite number of parallel universes. Some of these would be almost identical to our own. And some of them would be totally bizarre.
The story that was born from these inspirations is “Nova”, a journey into magic realism, but with a dark undercurrent that explores themes of dislocation and the fragile nature of ‘reality’. It has a circular narrative in which it is never clear what is real, and the plot keeps twisting and turning in on itself.
SYNOPSIS
When her father dies, Nova travels to Bali to find a half-sister she never knew about. But instead of a heart-warming welcome, her half-sister utterly rejects Nova, who finds herself grieving and alone in Bali.
An encounter with a mystical Balinese man sends her into a trance, and when she wakes up she finds that although things look the same, something has irrevocably changed in her world: the key to her hotel room doesn’t work, there are no records of her existence and everything is a little… different.
The deeper she digs to find a rational explanation for her predicament, the further down the rabbit hole she falls. Reality and dream states merge as Nova becomes increasingly disoriented and disturbed, struggling to put the pieces of her broken reality back into some kind of order.
HOW WE CONNECT
In today’s ever-changing world, where technology seems to move at an increasing pace, many of us can feel a little displaced, always running to catch up. Life can feel impersonal, when much of it is spent online and on social media and most of us are aware of this. Most of us strive for a connection, both personal and spiritual to something or someone other than ourselves. We all want to belong somewhere. NOVA is a story that connects with these longings and desires. It is a web series that has a wide appeal and reach, satisfying those who just want a compelling drama that will keep them guessing and wanting more. But it also goes deeper, touching on those desires and needs to belong - the sense of displacement. It really speaks to those of us who are looking for our place in the world, to those of us who know there’s something more...
We decided that the best medium to tell this story is through the devices that increasingly both connect and isolate us: the computers, the smart phones, the tablets that are so much a part of our everyday lives. And so we decided NOVA would be a web series. It will consist of 6 X 5 minute episodes.
NOVA is an entertaining and honest exploration of someone trying to find their place in an ever-changing world. And in that regard, it’s a story for all of us.
WHY CROWDFUNDING?
We shot the series in Bali on a shoe-string budget with a group of very talented and creative people who volunteered their time, and now we are back home in Australia looking to complete the journey and the story.
The footage and the performances are nothing short of extraordinary. The images are magical and inspiring. But now we are faced with finishing the editing process, composing music for the series, and completing the visual effects.
Rather than go through the more tradition routes of government finance, we have decided on crowd-funding because it is more in-keeping with the ethos of NOVA.
We are interested in building a community that creates real connection in the midst of this sometimes alienating and hollow world of online social networking.
By contributing you will be playing an active role in building this community and helping us complete the NOVA journey.
You will receive regular updates about the progress of the series as it nears completion. In addition to this, you will be notified when new episodes are posted on our exclusive NOVA website, allowing you to be among the first in the world to see them.
