Woyzeck to Brisbane
Dear Friends and Supporters
Fresh from the floors of Belvoir St Downstairs Theatre, Sydney, Woyzeck has been invited to the Brisbane Festival UNDER THE RADAR. This is a fantastic chance to remount the highly successful and innovative show and to give the cast and creatives more exposure for their work.
Being accepted into Brisbane Festival's UNDER THE RADAR season was a wonderful surprise - so the fundraising commenced. We need to raise funds to cover transport and accommodation for the artists.
We ask your help, as valued friends and supporters, to raise money so that we can make the most of this unique opportunity. We would greatly appreciate your contribution to bringing this show to life again.
You certainly won’t be bored by this Woyzeck… Sydney Morning Herald

A chilling, at times rather bizarre, extremely relevant and thought provoking production Arts Hub
The Plot
Poor and desperately trying to provide for his wife and young child, Woyzeck agrees to take part in a military medical trial to top up his measly soldier’s pay. Subjected to bizarre medical experiments, the oppressive regime of the military and finally the infidelity of his wife Marie, what sane action is left for Woyzeck to take?
This story is told with a with a wild visual aesthetic, humour, live music, dance and a superb ensemble cast, and director Netta Yashchin beautifully stitches together the hallucinatory moments of Büchner’s famous unfinished play Woyzeck. Previously a member of Israel’s Itim Ensemble and founder of the Yashchin Ensemble in Adelaide, B Sharp welcomed Netta Yashchin to the Downstairs Theatre to present her interpretation of this iconic 19th century masterpiece.
The performers are all fantastic, and although Büchner's vision is almost unrelentingly bleak, the play's black humour and intriguing visuals make it uplifting too. Yashchin has also wisely retained the work's air of mystery and kept it deliberately ambiguous. Time Out Sydney
