TWO WORLDS
Anon Islet Records and Arcko Symphonic Ensemble are presenting a very special performance where post-rock will combine with orchestral music, culminating in a majestic meeting of 'two worlds'. To make it even better, we are hoping to produce a short film that documents the process in piecing together an orchestral adaptation of some of Australia's most innovative rock talent.
The two worlds of new classical music and indie rock rarely collide and yet why? Both push the boundaries of sound, form and instrumentation and in this unique collaboration you'll find there's more in common than meets the eye. We are hoping that you'll want to get involved either by being part of our film and coming along to the show, or by pledging your support for the documentary.

Budget Breakdown:
APRA and Arts Victoria have supported this project, with contributions to cover the cost of our orchestral musicians. We are asking for your help to create a film which will break down something like this:
$1500 - Production company to film behind-the-scenes footage and live performances for the night (at a total mate's rates cost - thank you MONSTER AND BEAR!)
$350 - Sound engineer
$150 - Lighting technician
$350 - Sound engineer
$150 - Lighting technician
Should there be an excess of $2000, we would be able to then do EVEN MORE than produce a documentary for digital delivery... we could then make it PHYSICAL:
$300 - Cover art design
$750 - DVD Production run
If we exceed even those extra things, then... well, heck, we'll just do this orchestral-meets-rock kind of gig again and keep creatively contributing to the rich cultural texture that is Melbourne.

A LONELY CROWD
After three years of performing in and around Melbourne, A LONELY CROWD launched their highly anticipated debut albumUser Hostile in June 2011 at a sold out show at The Evelyn Hotel in Melbourne, and are currently working on their second album. Excited to unleash the fruits of their hard work on people everywhere, the groundswell of support for this local band is getting stronger all the time. For the 'Two Worlds' event, A Lonely Crowd will perform a very special acoustic show.
SILO STRING QUARTET
Silo has performed regularly at the Melbourne International Jazz Festivals and Melbourne International Women in Jazz Festivals since 1999 working with such artists as Fiona Burnett, Belinda Moody, Antonio Tenace, David Chisholm and Quinsin Nachoff (Canada) and was the resident string quartet for the Federation Music Week International Composers Forum. In 2006 Silo recorded a CD for Melbourne based dance company BalletLab entitled "Origami", composed by David Chisholm. Silo also feature on the live ABC CD Soaring at Dawn for Jazz trio and String Quartet composed by soprano saxophonist Fiona Burnett.
