About the Project:
In Deep Water is new performance installation piece about bioluminescence in the deep sea by Melbourne light artist Katie Sfetkidis. It will be developed over a series of intensive research and development workshops throughout 2013. Research for this work will explore the different properties of light under water and how these marine animals use lighting as a language.
From the research Katie willI create an interactive light sculpture within an immersive sensory environment that audience members will be invited to take a journey into. In Deep Water will premiere as part of Theatre Works Encounter(s) program in December 2013.
Research for this work began in December 2012 , with a two week residency at Theatre Works, St Kilda. Images and research material from this inital phase has been collected here: In Deep Water Blog. In 2013, a number of creative development intensives have been planned in the lead up to the Encounter(s) festival in December.
