Hi there!  My name is Susy and I'm really excited to put together my first Pozible project and I'm hoping you'll get onboard with what will be the biggest accomplishment of my life so far...

I have been selected for Team Australia - the national team for the inaugural Roller Derby World Cup to be held in Canada, December 1-4, 2011.  There are twenty awesome skaters in the team and you can also support the team as a whole by heading to this link.

I have been playing a sport called Roller Derby since 2009 and have had the delight of traveling around Australia with my teammates to play and watch games (they're called 'bouts').  Roller Derby is a full-contact women's sport played on roller skates.  It's played on an oval track and there are two teams on the track.  Each team comprises 4 blockers and 1 jammer.  The jammers are the point scorer for their team and gain points by passing the hips of the opposition while the blockers are trying to stop her passing.  As there are two jammers on the track at the same time, both teams must often play offense and defense at the same time and both teams can be racking up points at the same time.  It's an extremely fast-paced dynamic sport with incredible strategy and I am proud to be part of a team of Australia's finest skaters.

In December, Team Australia will take on teams from around the world representing their home countries.  We may play Argentina, Brazil, Canada, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Scotland, Sweden, and the United States.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to represent my country for a sport that I love incredibly.

I train with Newcastle Roller Derby League 3-4 times per week combined with 2 gym sessions per week.  When I am not playing or training for roller derby, I specialise in marketing and currently work for a telecommunications company to fund my derby love.  Unfortunately, I won't have enough time to fund my international expeditions before the end of the year and hope to raise a total of $5,000 so that I am not out-of-pocket while representing my country for roller derby.  All money raised will go towards ensuring I have reliable safety gear (kneepads, helmet, etc), reliable skate gear (wheels, bearings, skates etc), return flights and transfers, accommodation, and athlete gruel (because I want to be on the top of my game!!).

How the system works here is that you pledge a certain $ sum towards my goal.  If I don't make the goal then I get nothing so please don't let that happen eep!  Depending on the amount you pledge, you can select from the rewards listed.  Some rewards may be one-offs, some may have limited quantities and some are infinite.  Please select something you'd appreciate or just pledge money if nothing takes your fancy.  As time goes on, more rewards will be listed.  If you'd like to give me something I can offer as a reward, please email [email protected]
