THE EVENT KIT - help build a free toolkit

What is it?
The Event Kit is a FREE online resource helping anyone create a great event (even if you're not an event manager).
The Event Kit contains:
* Word-of-mouth recommended event suppliers and businesses with sample images, descriptions and testimonials
* Tips and tools to fast-track your learning of 'how-to' organise an event
* Template downloads - event budgets, event plans, production schedules, stage run sheets, video production shedules, venue checklists, contact lists, safety checks and so many more...
* A brilliant search function that means you only get lists of suppliers suited to YOUR budget/type of event/size of event
* Inspiring articles and stories to stimulate your creative brains
Who is this for?
It's for anyone organising an event who doesn't know where to start and doesn't have the networks.
It's for you if you're new to the industry or just organising a one-off event. The Event Kit is the perfect resource for...
* aspiring event managers wanting to 'get a foot in the door' of the industry
* the band member who books the gigs and CD launch, the artist who organises their own exhibition opening, the teach who runs the school carnival... the occassional event organiser who doesn't even realise they are organising events
* one-off event organisers who have been lumped with the task of putting on the annual conference, or writers' forums, or dad's 60th....
Why?
Because you need help!
Managing events is a complex and demanding and often urgent and baffling task.
The Event Kit will save you from reinventing the wheel everytime we need to find new suppliers or have a new kind of event to develop.
It will stimulate your minds with new ideas and information-sharing.
And importantly, it will show you what to do to keep your event safe, within budget, running on time and looking spectacular!

Who is driving this project?
Me - my name is Rachella. I've been in the event industry for over 13 years now and created more events than I can remember - everything from major outdoor public events to government exhibitions and lavish gala dinners and fun runs. I'm a lecturer and mentor to event students and consultant to businesses and organisations.
And I have a handful of increible volunteers generously donating their time and enthusiasm to help get this great project off the ground.
This is me - tired but happy - at Walk Against Want 2006
What is the project plan?
Phase 1– build website structure and initial functionality, populate directory database, and establish content pages, let the world know we exist!
COMPLETED
Phase 2– industry think-tank forum, promote to businesses and generate business submissions, develop in-depth business and user tools, establish feeds to external event resources and websites and build on the content pages (articles, external links and downloadable tools and templates), seek external content contributions (estimated spend $20k)
IN PROGRESS
Phase 3 – fix bugs and generally make it better, promote the service to users and encourage user interaction, content management (maintain database, content pages, research new information, interact with social media platforms) and put on an official launch party! (estimated spend $45k)
ON THE HORIZON
What are the funds for?
To help complete Phase 2.
NOTE: Pozible funding target is set at a very modest level to cover 25% of actual costs to complete phase 2 - please invest more if you can!
What if we exceed the $$ target?
We will spend the funds on the rest of phase 2:
* pay for a resource to build on the content pages (resources contribute more articles, external links and downloadable tools and templates)
* generate business submissions - promote website to targeted suppliers
* industry think-tank - opportunity for event managers of all levels to input their opinion and wish-list to determine the next phase of website build in a one-day think-tank
