SOFI is an all natural, All Australian take on the classic Italian spritz.

Locally grown Riesling grapes, blood orange, bitters and citrus zest are blended to create a complex, bitter-sweet taste and a crisp, refreshing finish. With no added sugar, plenty of sparkling water and a lower alcohol content than most wines, SOFI is both compulsive and considered.



After six months of development, we have a product you will love. As an independent start-up, we focus exclusively on SOFI. Unlike a large winemaker, we have no temptation to use up our worst vintages. Instead, working closely with master winemakers, we buy grapes and other premium quality ingredients on the open market. There is currently an abundance of excellent grapes in Australia so there is no need for us to add sugar or artificial preservatives to SOFI.

All funds raised through Pozible will go towards getting SOFI in your hands. Being independent means that we need to build distribution and scale from scratch. As part of this, we need a new packaging format and the critical mass for an online offering. Your support will make it happen and we will say thanks with SOFI's and launch parties to remember!



SOFI launched three months ago in Bondi and through a few friends’ venues interstate. The response has been fantastic with over 25 stockists to date (listed on facebook under info) including Kemeny’s and a bunch of independents that we love working with.

SOFI has now been enjoyed all over Sydney at farmers markets, rooftop markets, yacht clubs and bottle shop tastings.


SOFI has also been brought to life through social media. Her personality reflects our interpretation of the modern woman; complex, playful yet pure, compulsive yet considered, and with international style and local flavour. SOFI has made plenty of friends in the process.
So where did SOFI come from?

SOFI was created by a group of people living all around Australia - brought together by chance. We saw a gap in the market for something a little different, a refreshing change. And this is how SOFI was born:

Tommy Maclean, after years of living in Europe, wanted to share the Italians’ love for a bitter-sweet aperitivo with his friends back home. He soon realised that Australia has all the natural ingredients to make a world class (but locally sourced) spritz – plentiful grapes, sun-drenched citrus and incredible wine expertise.


Simon Gilbert (www.wineworksofaustralia.com.au), A fifth generation master winemaker (most recently recognised with producing the best rosé in the country) was convinced to try his hand at creating the spritz.


Charl at Love & Money (www.fortheloveandmoney.com) gave Sofi her look.


And the girls at Willow & Blake (www.willowandblake.com), rolled out her voice and brand on social media.


So now what?

We want to introduce you to SOFI, we think you’ll get along just great. But SOFI is slightly traditional, and expects you to pay on the first date.

Basics.

Each SOFI is 200ml, 8% ABV & 1.26 standard drinks. She contains no artificial flavours, colours or preservatives and is bottled with love.

SOFI will retail for around $50/dozen when we have the 12 bottle cases ready. We are offering it at a discount here
on Pozible, starting at $40/dozen along with subsidised delivery (including free delivery for 4 dozen+).

Legals.

Under the Liquor Act 2007, it is against the law to sell or supply alcohol to, or to obtain alcohol on behalf of, a person under the age of 18 years. All deliveries must be received and signed for by a person over the age of 18 years. We are unable to post to PO boxes.

So far our biggest challenge has been distribution. We are out on the road, every day, talking to distributors, wholesalers and retailers.

In the meantime, we want to launch an online offering so that we can get SOFI delivered to all her friends and followers around the country.

All funds raised will go towards getting SOFI in your hands. To do this we need an e-commerce solution, and packaging improvements (including a new 12-bottle carton design for online orders). The funds will also cover our initial orders to get the necessary freight systems set up with 3rd party providers. Any left overs will go towards making more SOFI to share around. With big minimum orders for many packaging providers, it will be a huge help for us to scale up from our initial test run.

Our main risk is around distribution – in this case, its delivery and freight charges. This project will help us get the critical mass to have the proper systems set up from the get go. For rewards, we will be offering free pick-up in Sydney (Bondi) and Mudgee, NSW, along with a flat delivery rate of $10 for national metro and $20 for regional.
