Tin Man is a third-year university graduation film for co-writer and director, James Lee. It has been described as a zany, edgy romantic-action-comedy with influences from the styles of Guy Ritchie (Rock 'n' Rolla) and Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Shaun of the Dead).
This film is at heart an exploration into how far we’ll go for the ones we love and
the ridiculous actions we sometimes commit to obtain their affection. It’s an age-old tale, the man trying to get the girl at all costs - but with a science fiction twist.
"Told with visual flair and witty dialogue (think Guy Richie film combined with a romance and Robocop) and you have something close to what is Tin Man. This will be my 3rd directorial effort culminating in three years at Swinburne University and with outside projects I feel I have excelled in understanding how important it is to craft your own identity as a visual storyteller; which ironically is something Tin Man explores thematically. As the love of his life builds him back together with every part gone, a new found appreciation of “being yourself” is something that hits home in the climax of the film. In saying all of that the film is layered with several set pieces which incorporate action in a meaningful manner.” - James Lee.
"Personally, I believe every script has the ability to become something extraordinary if given the passion and attention it deserves. Tin Man captured me with its dark, comical tones and high entertainment value, but above all the central theme of “Be Yourself” elevates it from standard sci-fi to a purposeful pursuit." - Jack Wilson.
Supporting this film has a number of benefits.
1) The Australian industry is limited - at the best of times - and making a small pledge to an independent film influences the emerging mass of guerilla filmmakers to keep creating magnificent content.
2) Director James Lee already has an array of films to his name (Ghosts, Pandora), currently being distributed at festivals across the world. Since it is his final student film, it is projected to launch him on to the professional Australian circuit, fuelling this underrated yet highly creative industry. You can be part of that process.
3) Co-producer and co-writer Jack Wilson has recently returned from a 6 month exchange in Leeds, UK, working within the vibrant UK industry, experiencing international filmmaking processes and applying his invaluable knowledge to the local industry.
4) Co-producer Fraser Green is an established and rapidly-growing YouTube personality, and will promote the film through his channel, The Reel Corner. He is also an award-winning filmmaker, travelling to Austin, Texas, USA in 2013 to accept his first film award. It is his absolute priority, handling the marketing and distribution of Tin Man, to distribute and display the film at all costs.
5) You're contributing to the growth of the arts! Seeing your money in an artistic piece if emotionally rewarding and, in this case, provides exclusive prizes for your generous support.

The Challenges
Having a premiere screening will be our main challenge, but this is an absolute priority for us as a production team, and something we want to experience.
