This is a campaign to assist the label MIMI-ZIKKI designed by RMIT fashion graduate Mia Zielinski to purchase essential equipment and materials and for the official launch with MSFW in september!

MIMI-ZIKKI is one of 31 entries to be accepted into the Melbourne spring fashion week 2014 self curated events program, and will be hosting its first official collection showcase in a vivid display of colour, film, interactive projection, sound design, installation and of course exciting new apparel.

Through two degrees, a BA in theater production and a BA in fashion design, Mia has has developed her own unique style and aesthetic which is quirky, colourful, humorous and eclectic.
She enjoys merging several disciplines together including short film, theater, visual art and fashion design to create interesting and multi-layered displays through photography, film and live performance.

MIMI-ZIKKI will be producing street wear using as environmentally friendly materials and processes as possible, produce locally and work with local artists to develop designs and concepts.

A promotional teaser for the first mini collection entitled 'Cray' .. which features a Crayfish/lobster print design by local illustrator Aaron Spooner and plays on the buzz word or saying 'Cray Cray'.

Each collection created will have its own distinct look and theme. The 'cray' collection explores printing and dying techniques that best represent the MIMI-ZIKKI style.

          The first prototypes for the CRAY collection. Each garment is individually hand painted, dyed and screen printed!

The main fabric they'll be using is 50% Hemp and 50% organic cotton. Hemp being an amazing fiber and totally underused, the label is passionate about promoting it's incorporation into fashion apparel.

MIMI-ZIKKI is Pro- Hemp and sustainable textiles.

Plush Hemp/organic cotton/recycled PET ,FUR fabric ,Natural Hemp/bamboo FLEECE, and Hemp/organic cotton RIBBING.
This raw material is dyed with vibrant colours and completely transformed once it is finished. Being a natural fiber, it takes the dye very well.

Clothing from the range will be on sale by the end of june/early July via their website mimi-zikki.com.au and they will be well underway in planning their launch with MSFW by July.

Stocked in two stores initially, 'The White Rabbit collective' in Melbourne and 'Poly gone cowboy' in Brisbane, the label is
aiming to get product into one store per city in Australia.

Film

Throughout Mias two degrees she has found that film is one of the best ways to express ideas and convey concepts and it has become an important part of her work. She intends to create several short films per year, one per collection ideally, to better showcase the ideas.

The box heads film was made specifically for the Pozible campaign and was a pleasure for her to create and conceive as it's pretty much ridiculous!

How The Funds Will Be Used

The most difficult expenses to meet are buying the fabrics in large quantities upfront and paying for the print set up and production expenses.
Some additional expenses include-
A coverstitch machine (for professional finishes on T-shirt and stretch fabrics) $2500
A full body female mannequin $649
An electric Fabric cutter $355
A portable, industrial clothing rack $150
A huge roll of calico $250

Some of the other expenses this year will be-
Purchasing bulk fabrics such as the Organic Hemp Jersey- $1000
Paying for screen printing services $500 approx
Paying for dyes $200
Hosting the label launch in Sept, at least $1000
The 2014 look-book- photographers, models and make-up etc $500 to $1000

The Challenges

If the campaign is unsuccessful, the label will continue to push on though just at a slower pace. Keep an eye out for them in the MSFW program!

If you live in Melbourne I will organise a fashion shoot for you! This could be a shoot of your own clothing or you can select styles from my own bank of designs and I can style it for you! If you need a model I can source one for you, I will provide the photographer and I will edit a selection (up to 10) of the photos for you afterwards. I will help to plan and coordinate the shoot for you and direct it for you :)
