One Hundred years ago this July, the world was on the brink of war: a war which was to become known as "The War to End All Wars".
Unfortunately, this name is a misnomer as wars continue to plague the planet & its people. Renegade Theatre has decided to present our take on Joan Littlewood's satirical 1963 musical, Oh! What a Lovely War.

As Joan Littlewood said "War after all is for clowns" so the show was developed as a 'show within a show' with the Merry Roosters Pierrot Troupe using clown to point out the absurdities and tragedies of war.
With all the jingoistic guff that will surround the 'official' commemorations of this war, we think its important that an alternative voice is also heard.
Just as an anti war message is as important today as it was in 1963, we believe that the show is as relevant as ever.

So far, we've secured a venue, built a stage, found a cast, borrowed a piano and rehearsed.... and rehearsed.
If we were promoting a war, we'd have money thrown at us.... however, this is not the case when satirising it, so we need your help.
Our quote for lighting is $2500.00, the rights cost us $2000.00... then we need costumes, sound equipment and props.
Our budget is so far self-funded and we can't really see ourselves coming up with the $3000 shortfall without your help.
