Your support will help Wayne to realise his dream to become the first Aboriginal yoga teacher in Australia.


Wayne is an Australian Aboriginal man who has a dream to be a yoga teacher.
Wayne has been learning yoga for the last six years.
It has inspired him to learn more so he can share it with others.



For Wayne, yoga has given him a new culture.
As a contemporary Aboriginal his traditional culture had been taken.
The wholistic body-mind-spirit culture of yoga made sense to him.
It was something he was seeking in his life.



Wayne has embraced the yoga culture with passion. It has given him new strength, focus, structure, confidence, health, peace and harmony.   Wayne sees yoga as self-connecting, for yourself, building self-discipline, self-belief and self-motivation.

                       

Yoga has been a gift for Wayne, changing his life, giving him new life.
He wants to teach yoga so others can experience the positive energy, thoughts and life that it brings. He wants to share yoga with his Koori community and show them its healthy life benefits.



Wayne’s yoga teacher instructor guru mentor is Mark Whitwell - Heart of Yoga Mark is an internationally well-known yogi who lives in the US, NZ and Fiji.  Mark is a strong supporter of Wayne.  He has encouraged Wayne to do his teacher training, and to become an advocate and activist for yoga to his Aboriginal people. "I was so impressed with Wayne's grasp of Yoga both as a personal practice and understanding and philosophical system. He is so ready to teach all Australians."

The project will fund Wayne to attend an intensive Heart of Yoga accredited yoga teacher training course with Mark Whitwell in Fiji in October 2014.   It will pay for his travel costs, tuition, food and accommodation, as well as teacher registration and insurance.

$2,500 - accommodation & food

$1,700 - travel costs including passport

$500 - insurance and registration

$300 - logo design and merchandise
