I was only a young child when I would first encounter tea. I remember my father always making up pots of Chinese tea, usually for our guests in the evenings after work. It was then that I developed the understanding that the tea experience was something you enjoy and share with those around you. That same understanding of tea would later became my mantra for life. 



The earlier moments of my life weren't always so great. I had faced a few challenges with my health, work, family and friends. These experiences quickly taught me how much I needed the support from the people around me to get me through it all. My outlook had become quite negative and I felt like I was spiralling in a downward direction. I knew something had to change. I began studying herbal medicine as an alternative therapy after being prescribed anti-depressants. My studies found a way to reunite me with the love for tea that I had developed as a child. 



The moments I gained from drinking tea began to again remind me of the joys found in simple pleasures. With this philosophy I was inspired to create a way to refocus my life and create something that allowed me to share what I enjoyed most. This thought would evolve into the business that became Modern Tea.





As you can see, Modern Tea is not just a business for me. It's been a life long journey and has now become a part of who I am. To ensure that I can continue this journey, I am going to need your support. This fundraising will provide the financial support I need to continue sharing the tea experience with my community in the most accesible way possible, by being directly involved.



Supporting this project is about more than just the money, it's about continuing to demonstrate how powerful and important it is to support each other. As writer John Heywood once so perfectly said "Many hands make light work". I believe this concept is even more important than ever now that we live such fast paced lives. Tea is a simple way to remind us that it is so important to our health (mind, body and spirit) to take time out to reflect and to find ways to better ourselves.

Last December Modern Tea launched it's first three blends to the public. The range was inspired by a need for a simpler and more accessible quality tea experience. The purpose of this first range was to work with the average persons daily routine so that there would be a tea perfect for the morning, day and night. This simple process allows the focus to lie on the tea experience and removes any kind of need for know-how encouraging each person to pursue their own unique journey with tea.





Building a community is the same as building a family. There is no room for a 'just this once' mentality. It is about continuing a stream of love and support no matter what. That is why it is so important to share this 'call for action' to everyone you know and in every way you can (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Email, Blog, Word of Mouth). I also urge everyone who needs my support to send me a message asking for it because I am here to help my community whenever and wherever I can.




Modern Tea as a business has only been running since last December, 2013. It continues to exist due to the support of all of those who surround me. Each person involved has played such an important role in making this dream work.

I am not always the first to admit when I can't do things by myself but this journey has taught me that I need the support from my community to feel whole and to achieve everything I dream for. If I am successful with my Pozible campaign the funds will be used to reduce the financial risks that small businesses like mine face trying to get their name out there. The only obstacle I can foresee for succeeding in my project is not gaining enough support. Although this is a concern, I have created a carefully thought out plan to promote the project successfully.
