The Feed Media is a collection of writers from diverse backgrounds sharing stories and experiences through the written word while adhering to the strong ethics of journalism and striving for absolute truth... oh, and we like to entertain too! We believe that society craves information and understanding, that we are all hungry to learn more about the world around us - The Feed attempts to sate this hunger.
The Feed's website, TheFeed.com.au, has grown exponentially in the 2 months since it first launched and we've already covered a large range of topics from social justice for sex workers to a first-hand glance at the gritty Brazilian underworld and even 3 tips on how to survive a blind date.
In just 2 short months we have had over 60 individuals ask to write for The Feed AND we've managed to accumulate over 10,000 views. It's a good start and the only way is up!
We hope The Feed Magazine will allow us to reach new audiences and to break the confines of the internet as we move from the online to the offline. The Feed Magazine will be made up of the best articles collected from TheFeed.com.au and will present them in a professional and artistic print format. We also hope to create a digital version of the magazine which can be used on an iPad and will include videos and audio, and the best part is it'll all be free!
We have just begun the initial organisation for the magazine and we hope to have a June/July release with quarterly releases in the future. Your contribution will not only make this a reality, but it will be supporting up-and-coming and very talented writers. You'll also be making our dreams come true while providing society with articles that will stimulate the mind and create discussion!!
We hope to also celebrate with you for the launch of the magazine. Anyone who contributes over $50 will be invited to The Feed Magazine Launch party (we'll let you know all the details very soon) You can also 'Like' us on Facebook and follow us on Twitter to keep up-to-date with all the happenings at The Feed.
Below is a breakdown of the budget:
The Budget - $3000
1. Pay Our Writers - $750: At The Feed we strongly believe in being paid for what you write which is why we want all the writers who appear in The Feed Magazine to be paid. They have put so much time and effort into creating original, informative and entertaining pieces of journalism, and we think it's only fair they be compensated.
2. Publishing - $1390: We believe an initial run of 2000 issues to be distributed through universities, cafes, pop-up galleries, public transport etc. will be enough to gather interest for future issues. We also want to be able to ship our magazine to other countries too!
3. Design: While we'll be working with a close friend on the design of the magazine, we'd also like to compensate him for his time. We won't be publishing his pay rate out of respect for his privacy.
4. Boring stuff: We've got bills to pay and things to copyright (unsurprisingly expensive!)! The rest of the money will go towards getting everything ready for the first issue. We promise to not squander your money, except for:

If we happen to raise more funds than our goal we will be putting the money aside for the next issues of The Feed Magazine.

As a special thank you for contributions from businesses, we have made a reward for contributing $400+ $650+ & $1500+ an ad in the magazine. Note: We reserve the right to refuse placing an ad in the magazine if we believe the content is not appropriate. The placement and size of the advertisement will be discussed further during the designing stage.
