About the author, Sandy Clark

I lived in Zambia in the 1970's as a young woman in a time of great change when tribalism was rife and the first President of Zambia, Kenneth Kaunda, brought the tribes of Zambia together as one, under the banner of One Zambia One Nation.

The early 70's was  a time when there was still racial hatred - many blacks hated whites because of the way they had experienced oppression from many and many whites were angry about Zambian independence. I chose to work with and befriend black Zambians and I learned so much in my short time there working in an advertising agency and understanding the Zambian lifestyle.  I love the African people because they are so warm and friendly.

Today Zambia is one of the most stable and democratic countries in the whole of Africa. To me it is the best country in Africa. I love it and I love the people – which is why I feel compelled to share the stories of Zambia.

How The Funds Will Be Used

The funds raised from the project were used to published the book and all profits from the sale of the book will go directly to building the Arthur Wina Memorial Maternity Hospital in Nalolo, Western Province, Zambia.

The land to build the hospital has been allocated by the local Chief. It has been cleared and roads and power are currently being linked to the building site.

The Challenges

Have the hospital up and running by the end of 2017.
